    I worked at Allergan full-time

    Pros

Great atmosphere to work. Highly motivated and intelligent team members. You can learn a lot from others if you put in the effort. Good benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k)

    Cons

Promotions were a waiting game sometimes and not always based on performance. If you are good at brown nosing you could find yourself in a good situation. Not all managers were management material that could adequately mentor their direct reports although this is expected in any large company.

I worked at Allergan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A solid fully integrated pharmaceutical performer. Success is built on a stable product and global demand for BOTOX. Substantial improvement in market value.

    Cons

Instability driven by attempts for take over and then merger and attempts to increase share holder value resulted in two layoffs in less than 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Adopt process innovation and reduce focus on old approaches to solving problems.

    Cons

Expensive cafeteria food. The renovated cafeteria and increased selection of food was an improvement.

    Pros

Fair compensation, benefits, retention strategies. Flexible timings, good colleagues, good work-life balance.

    Cons

They offer jobs, not careers. It is a good step along the way to your next job. Majority of senior mgmt is too distracted to recognize value addition in times of integration changes.

I worked at Allergan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, lots of room for growth and great co-workers. Management is (was) willing to listen to new ideas and encouraged exploring solutions for improving efficiency and reducing waste.

    Cons

Went into panic mode in the face of a hostile takeover. In the end, I feel that more could have been done to keep the company independent, instead of settling for the "lesser evil" of competing takeover suitors.

    Advice to Management

(This is for the new management.) Make at least an effort to get to know the people before deciding to lay them off - they may be more valuable than your bean counters would have you believe.

    Pros

Good benefits, good people, beautiful campus in headquarters, large company, a lot of money to outfit labs and support studies

    Cons

Recently acquired and there have been a lot of layoffs. Salary tends to be on the lower side but benefits can make up for it Medical device side of business is dwarfed by Pharma side. Difficulties working between medical device and pharma silos

    Pros

Some good leaders, with the recent transition it appears better leadership teams are being formed. A lot of potential

    Cons

Old Allergan was very old school, new Allergan is hard to tell.
