I worked at Allianz full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Clean Office
    -Access to on-site gymnasium.
    -Professional environment
    -Great HR department.

    Cons

-low pay, company focuses on looks (building, image), not employee salary.
-more bureaucratic than my previous role in government.
-Micromanagement is incredibly huge component of company structure and roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train employees and allow them to be empowered in their roles, instead of making them struggle through constant feedback and inconsistent work processes.

    I worked at Allianz full-time

    Pros

Coworkers make the company bearable; good benefits; employees that transitioned from California are knowledgeable; encourage continuing education

    Cons

Upward mobility based on office politics; members of middle management were verbally abusive and management style would divide team rather than bring it together; witnessed employees take on workload of two employees as department was downsized while middle management's workload remained the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are your assets and should be treated as such. My experience was that the turnover rate was a direct correlation to the manager of that department. Middle management should be qualified I.e. a degree and previous management experience

    Pros

    Global opportunities, strong global brand

    Cons

    - A global company that lacks any type of ethnic diversity in the US, particularly at the leadership level, and has no focus on diversity.
    - Needs to go to the market in a more innovative and strategic way
    - Has to figure out how to strengthen its brand in the US

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Create a diversity program.

Great place to be an intern, but would not consider working there full time.

Former Employee - Intern in Golden Valley, MN

    I worked at Allianz

    Pros

The pay for an intern position was a good rate. I was given a number of responsibilities on a project and was working side by side with senior employees. My input was listened to on the team and regarded well, which may not be the case typically for an intern position in a group with mostly senior employees.

    Cons

The work place environment seemed to deteriorate during the time that I was there. There was a lack of morale amongst employees which seemed mostly due to a lack of trust in the leadership. Employees seemed bitter about leadership decisions and didn't believe re-organization efforts would benefit the company or fix the root problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest time into employees so they feel included and heard even during the difficult times.

    Pros

Great colleagues, who will try to help you out, if necessary; interesting trainee programme; excellent education, which is paid for; different opportunities for a career

    Cons

Because of high pressure to hit sales targets a lot of stress; selling insurance to clients who do not need one, just to hit targets; lack of communication; working many hours a day to sell insurances, learn for tests and attend meetings

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change focus from quantitative to qualitative selling

    Pros

Trainig was good for starting out in the industry. Most the staff was friendly until you get to management.

    Cons

Much of a 'who you know' culture. Systems were horrible and pay was below industry average.

I worked at Allianz full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good work life balance, if you're not keen to develop yourself or keep the status quo. Could be also enhancing if you work at junior level

    Cons

The senior management lacks of vision, skills and in depth understanding for a forward looking approach. Highly unfair, discriminatory treatment at work, if you're a woman.

    - learning academy has good some good training. The downside is that opportunity might be given to the select few.

    Cons

    Pros

The people are excellent. The front line staff is very helpful and cheerful and very hard working. The cab facility is excellent there is a good work life balance if you are part of a business division

    Cons

Corporate functions is like a sweat shop. You work tirelessly without reward. HR managers are not helpful at all and have poor leadership qualities. Working for the BPO is the best as the head is a nice person, very helpful and is a strong leader as are the heads of the other business division.
    Pantry food can be better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

look at the attrition rise and introspect as to the actual reasons, some of the managers hired are not upto the mark
