Great place to start working. Great if you live at home with parents, not recommended for people who need lots of money.

    Security Officer (Former Employee)
    Pearl River, NY

ProsAt my site the account manager was great and co workers were decent. The pay is higher than working at more difficult jobs like in restaurants. The work is easy and schedule may be able to accommodate you if you go to school close by. Workperks discounts on various things are really nice. After one year full time you start with 2 weeks vacation. Licensing is covered by the company with the exception of the fingerprint fee. (This is vital because there are many security licensing schools that charge you and don't actually offer you a job) Protocol is clearly defined so you know what you're supposed to do.

ConsSchedule is set up week by week so it's difficult to plan ahead. Specific days off have to be requested about a month in advance. Cannot leave post until someone replaces you, sometimes without compensation. Advancement seems limited, pay is negotiated by contract and doesn't increase over time unless you get promoted.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore options for fixed unchanging schedules.

It was an easy job and the people I worked with were pretty laid back

    Control Room Operator (Former Employee)
    Milpitas, CA

ProsA very easy job, very easy money. Great boss at my site. If you work the weekdays you should probably have good multi tasking skills because it can at time get slightly chaotic. But the weekends are easy.

ConsSlightly boring, the pay was decent but not enough to comfortably survive in the Bay Area if you want a house, career or family

Advice to Senior ManagementMore uniform training for all employees
