    Cons

There are add on solution integration issues with the core software system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the folks on the front lines speaking with clients rather than trying to run the business from a spreadsheet/dashboard.

I worked at Allscripts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The company takes care of its employees on subjective matters - many resources available to improve yourself and how you can do your job. Your direct manager will have a lot of influence on your quality of life. I've seen some that are exceptionally supportive, and others that leave you to your own devices, for better or worse.

    Cons

Salaries are low, given the range of knowledge necessary to work there. Other industries pay more money for less skill/education/experience. Career advancement seems to be slow. I've seen many people doing the same job for years before a small internal career advance occurs.

    Pros

Great opportunities to learn the industry and be part of a big change. I like my managers and their vision as well as the company's overall mission.

    Cons

Employee tracking (hours and projects) can be counterproductive and take away from your energy and enthusiasm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow employees in certain positions to get out from the yolk of tracking every minute they spend on certain projects. Focus on outcomes and not inputs. Think of Google who allows their employees to spend at least 25% of their time on projects outside of their division.

I have been working at Allscripts full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Despite some of the cons, allscripts still is a pretty good place to work. They really work with there employees to try to develop them. Everyone has a voice. They are family orientated and have a respectable concept of flex time. Pretty good benefits. Most every one is easy to get along with and respectable.

    Cons

Very political - largely because everyone gets a voice. Rapidly changing culture. Annual reorganizations. Distant management. Sometimes the restructures mean that you "loose" a position on a product team. But.. the company does take the time to help you find another internal position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When there are changes that significantly effect peoples position, it would be nice if you had some kind of an actual plan for the employees effected by the change. Maybe I'm just too simple minded, but saying something like "oh your product is canceled, good luck searching for a new job. Hope you stay with us". Is really terrible.
