Former Employee – worked at Allstate full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Big company, not likely to go out of business any time soon. Although some times slow death may be worse.
Cons – Company culture is bad, from top down. Management treats employees poorly. Employees treats customers poorly. High cost supply chain, extremely competitive market, no clear vision on how to gain back lost market shares or reducing cost. Most of the time when management realize they need to cut cost, they just issue an edict for underlings to save XXX amount by XX date.
Advice to Senior Management – Management could really use some training on UPDATED management skills. WW2 era military style leadership is not going to work with younger generations. Most people leave a job not because of pay, but because of bad managers.

Current Employee – been working at Allstate full-time for less than a year
Pros – Employees are nice, good diversity in employees
Cons – Managers have no people skills and have unrealistic expectations. "Voluntary" giving campaign and "voluntary" surveys. Violation of privacy with mandatory posting of employees resumes on Linkedin
Advice to Senior Management – Wait for my ACLU attorney to call

Former Employee – worked at Allstate full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – When I started the people who worked there were of very high quality character and were very professional. The training wasn't bad for a company of its size. Good amount of vacation time.
Cons – The work was the most stressful job I've ever had. It's bad enough to deal with angry people on the phone all day, but to be constantly held to unrealistic measurements internally and generally treated like a number by management just put it over the top as unbearable. Long hours because they do not keep the offices properly staffed for the amount of work that comes in. If you tried to discuss ways to make the company better, you could be sure to hear "If you don't like it here you're free to leave anytime". Glad I took that advice.
Advice to Senior Management – I was a good employee, I won the distinguished performance award a couple times. Even I felt like I wasn't appreciated because of the horrible way many of my coworkers were treated by management above the local office. Forcing out good workers because they made too much money and replacing them with seemingly anyone who applied was enough proof that no matter how good I was doing, my time would come and I'd be treated the same way.

Current Employee – been working at Allstate full-time for more than a year
Pros – Not much unless you're the follower type. Or if you're the type who finds comfort in working for a very big company. Or if you have sycophant tendencies, then this might be the place for your career.
Cons – Suffocating corporate culture. Preach a lot of politically correct sounding nonsense, when they really don't. Plagued with the usual problems a big corporation has... Slow moving and out-of-touch.
Advice to Senior Management – There's nothing further to say.

Former Employee – worked at Allstate as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Clear chain of command
Nice campus that included a good gym and a good cafeteria
Decent workspace
Cons – I hate to admonish an entire organization for the behavior of one supervisor, but the fact that this person was a lifelong "Allstater," and was allowed to persist in some of the most destructive managerial practices I have ever witnessed certainly speaks to the wisdom and judgment of their leadership as a whole. I watched on in horror numerous times as this person diminished and abused her underlings in at times almost comical fashion. But no one was laughing. Indeed, I walked out of a meeting in which she brought another woman I worked with to tears -- literally.
Advice to Senior Management – Solicit feedback about superiors from not only FT Allstate staff but also contractors and take that feedback seriously. At least one of them is bringing contractors in to use as her own personal scratching posts.

Former Employee – worked at Allstate full-time for more than a year
Pros – Co-workers were very helpful but under extreme pressure to get their heavy workload completed, so they often didnt have time to help you.
Cons – Management was horrible, Sat in empty office for 3 days upon being hired as no one knew what to do with me. Sent to Chicago for training, without needed training on systems first. Was given a computer that shared an aircard with another employee. Was told by tech that my comoputer issues were the worst they had seen in 20 years, while a closet in the office held 10 new units. I was told as a field adjuster i didnt need a computer and could just come into the office every night and work in their after i finished my day in the field. Managemant insisted that it was all my fault, however when I had a ride along I always graded at 95% or above.
Advice to Senior Management – Develope a training plan. Make management responsible to improve and lead, not just threaten jobs.

Former Employee – worked at Allstate as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Pay. That's it. There was nothing else positive about this job. I took a significant pay cut just to get out of that place.
Cons – Management in the user experience team has no respect for their employees. They do not trust the UX people to change a simple control on the page. Management would verbally and publicly lecture, demean and debase employees. The technology behind the software is circa 1997. You're skills will wane there.
Advice to Senior Management – Respect your employees. Respect their professional experience. Trust them to make good decisions. Stop being abusive.

Former Employee – worked at Allstate full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I personally was able to hit all sales objectives easily in very short amount of time and bonuses at first were quiet nice.
Cons – Pay structure changes were frequent and there is nothing you can do about it once you have invested all of your savings into a business.
Advice to Senior Management – Take a closer look at how hard local agents work and realize that you have lost MANY wonderful agents who loved their customers dearly. Agents shouldnt have to argue with adjusters to pay claims day in and day out.

Current Employee – been working at Allstate full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – You can purchase the "book of business" from the former agent. Which means you will need. Cash 50K to 1M or a bank loan. You then become the owner of the income stream from the policies.
Cons – You (the new agent) become responsible for all rent, phone, employees, advertising, marketing, supplies, taxes, the debt load could become unmanageable....
Advice to Senior Management – The agent should get the benefit for "every policy" the agent sell. Stop using vacations as incentive, in my opinion "vacation" incentive in from the past and in not appropriate for all agents
