    Pros

Money is good. As with all sales, your salary can be as high as your drive to do the job.

    Cons

You work for a bunch of middle management drones who pressure you to sell so they can make their bonus.

    Pros

    Currently there aren't any pros.

    Cons

Brown nosing is a must. If you're good at this, this is the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Be considerate of others. Consideration of what actually goes on in the work place is not known to superiors. Just corporate's ability to manage a business from their office unaware of what actually goes on or how it effects customers or employees

I worked at Alltel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay is better then average for retail.

    Cons

Upper Management and Corporate is centered hundreds of miles for the closest store. The computer systems are completely unreliable. Management in Ohio forces employees to work more then 40 hours, but claim 40 for fear of being fired.

    Advice to Management

    Resign

    Advice to Management

Managers needed to be held accountable.

    Pros

The pay is commission based. So for those employees that are excellent and aggressive sales people, the pay will be a positive factor. The company is very aggressive and fast track. There is no boredom.

    Cons

The company has strict quotas that must be met by the sales staff. A new employee has three months to learn all that is required to meet these quotas. Not everyone learns this type of technology at the same pace, for most a minimum of 6 months is needed. Termination for not meeting monthly quotas is 100%, there is no personal consideration given for an employee of high integrity, strong work ethic, excellent attendance, customer concern. To survive at Alltel you have to sell at the quota requirement every month.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees with more depth than your sales quota requirements. You have terminated employees for no other valid reason than not meeting sales quotas. This is a very demoralizing practice for everyone within the Alltel retail environment. The pressure to sell smart phones to those that do not truly have need for a smartphone drives up the cost of these products, as many 'over sold" customers return them. The push to sell these products puts intense demand on the entire management and sales staff.

    Pros

Alltel is a fortune 251 company that kind of experience can be invaluable for future endeavors. There are a lot of established processes and that allow for a more efficient governance of business application thereby increasing ROI, minimizing duplication of efforts and streamlining efforts.

    Cons

Alltel is very much a "good 'ol boy" type company and if you're not in the right 'click', it can be very tough to get ahead. Lack of career path and career development is very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

include senior and consultant level employees in leadership development and provide people with career paths and opportunities to grow.

  9. Disorganized, incompetent, demoralizing, money grubbing coorporate culture...

    Pros

Great benefits, decent pay compared to other sales positions in the area.

    Cons

Terrible management. If this company were an individual person the best word to describe it would be scatterbrained. It doesn't know what it wants to do or where it's going. For and extremely good businessperson and an overachiever such as myself I have been held back by coorporate standards saying when you can take higher positions. Our store manager is terrible as well, which contributes to my dislike for the company.

    Advice to Management

More emphasis on customers and less emphasis on the bottom line. More emphasis on teaching proper sales skills to employees. Better training and choosing of upper level management.

    Pros

Benefits, pay, profit sharing, and that's about it

    Cons

Horrible hours, micromanagement, company always trying to get you to work without logging your hours, managers do absolutely nothing, dogmatic company views and employee treatment. The company claims to care, but it is words only. They just don't

    Advice to Management

Actually pay attention to what your managers are doing instead of micromanaging the people under the manager. Alltel is a very difficult place to work. Customers are constantly yelling and upset with you, and management believes in punitive measures to get their point across. I worked at Alltel for 7 years. The first two were great. The last 5 were hell.

    Pros

Convenience (location) and money. Flourishing business. Additionally the years invested in the company. A good lifestyle

    Cons

No career growth opportunities. Management lacks ability. Merit has a very miniscule weightage in carreer growth. A very conservative white southern company. Lack of appreciation of diversity

    Advice to Management

The "cash cow" is what keeps the Senior Management afloat. They need to be prepared for the bad times by investing and keeping meritorious people on the payroll.
