Enjoyable...have worked here for over 5 years. I guess happiness varies by location.

I have been working at Almost Family as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, pleasant staff, good pay. I have been a therapist for over 20 years. We take good care of our patients and I can't tell you how many courtesy visits I have done and gotten paid for while the company did not....because a patient needed something.

    Cons

Medicare is the challenge for me, not almost family. The requirements become more strict so the paperwork is more. I am prn so I do hear the benefits are expensive...but my husband's insurance almost doubled again this year as well and that doesn't have to do with his employer...that's new healthcare. It is a large company and decisions are made by those higher up...not always easy.

    Pros

Flexible schedules and great pay, The Director really tries to be fair by trying to give everyone some hours, need more cases for work.

Not alot of hours , a little of favoritism to older employees at times. Sometimes good employees get pushed out by not so good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The benefits need to be tweeked, need PTO and better insurance for their employees.

    Pros

    Flexibility and room for advancement

    Cons

Some micromanagement- touts flexibility but then gets annoyed if you make and MD appt in the middle of your day when they need you to drop what you are doing and drive 50 miles to go see an unexpected patient.

I have been working at Almost Family full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Processes and policies are in place to guide you and make your agency successful on a corporate level.

    Cons

Benefits are expensive, cannot afford to put whole family on plan. Perks are available but delayed regularily and when obtained seem to be accompanied by internal audits so that is no longer the case. Little to no support from mid level regional managers, tools are not provided to grow business as expected at the local level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If turnover rate for DPS's is so high and a focus then look at what support you are giving them at the local level. Do they have the AE/PCL that they need to be able to grow the business?
