  1. Overall the company has a good culture, but the work can occasionally feel as if it lacks meaning.

I worked at Altria as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The best part of working at Altria is the company culture and compensation packages they offer. You'll be hard pressed to find a company that can match them. Additionally, there is a large focus on promoting from within, and thus a fair deal of time is devoted to training and development. The work-life balance is average.

    Cons

The largest con of working for the company is simply that the tobacco industry is declining. As a result, the work can seem a bit pointless if you look at things from a long run perspective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on a way to restructure the manner in which promotions are done, it shouldn't be so bureaucratic and rigid. Also, focus on giving people work with meaning all the time, not just occasionally when there is something to be done.

    Pros

Altria's efforts to recruit and retain top talent show. The Altria Field Sales Force is full of talented and motivated individuals.
