    Pros

Good medical benefits, dental and vision acceptable. Does offer 401k. No retirement.

    Cons

Offshores work to India as quickly as possible. Primarily is an outsourcing company for larger companies such as AT&T. These companies outsource the work and employees which disguises any downsizing on their part. Then Amdocs lays them off as quickly as possible and replaces them with Indian offshore employees.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time

    Pros

There is a lot of potential:
    - Amazing, sharp, clever people as far as the eye can see
    - There's a lot of very interesting work which needs to be done
    - Champaign is a great town to live and work in
    - Health benefits are great
    - Pay is on the lower end of competitive for the market overall, though mid-range of competitive for the area
    - There are a handful of groups doing some neat things
    - The customers of Amdocs are some of the best in the world to work with
    - Bonuses are great, or so I'm told

    Cons

Amdocs is suffering from chronic mismanagement, and abuse of workers is rampant.
    - On-call schedules result in very frequent long (more than 50 hours) work weeks
    - Resistance to change is excessive and arbitrary, and nepotism abounds
    - Ratio of managers to workers is almost 1:2 (and actually is in some areas).
    - Applications in use are ancient and aging, corporate doesn't want to spend the money to fix the problem, so instead they hire people to perform data fixes 24/7 instead of actually fixing the bugs.
    - People in management reserve the right to demand your presence on a "bridge" at any hour of the day, regardless of your plans.
    - Those who are hired as programmers are often only used in a tier-3 support capacity.
    - All of the above problems lead to a stagnation in personal growth and skill-atrophy.
    - Management doesn't want to hear what you think or want, they only want you to do as you're told and pick up the phone when you are called.
    - Management always hearkens back to when things were much, much worse whenever a problem arises, and then uses that as a pretext to avoid solving the problem.
    - The company chases people away in droves and then chooses not to back-fill those positions. This makes fewer people do the same amount of work.
    - The company uses the word "professional" to mean "do what I say without question," and they do so repeatedly at all levels of management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your workers do not belong to you, and the more you remind people that they can leave and go work somewhere else if they don't like where they are the more likely they are to actually do so.

Senior management may also want to stop extolling the virtues of hard work while bragging about the perks of their jobs, too.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Well, you get a paycheck every two weeks. Not much more to say than this. Benefits are OK. Not great, but OK.

    Cons

Management has no consideration for the employee. Morale is terrible and management has no interest in improving it. Gives "employee morale", "development" a lot of lip service though.

Nigel Marsh (look him up) calls such companies "abattoirs of the human soul". Fits Amdocs perfectly, IMO.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are important. Not just the bottom line.

    Cons

    Pros

If you dont have any job and think that you have to make money any how (which is still below market average)

    Cons

lot of politics, non-technical work, and support can be for more than 80+ hours in week.
Boss treats people like slave and supposed to work day in and night out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please treat people like huma beings, try not to be slave drivers.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Was once a decent company to work for that gave something to its customers and nested in its employees growth and well being. If you're lucky you'll have some decent colleagues to share your frustrations at the top heavy, thick headed management structures , stifling bureaucracy and completely insane lack of budget to really enable you do you work well.

    Cons

Employees are like furniture or equipment. Use them without consideration for their humanity and then throws them away when they break. Talks big about values and employee care but doesn't stand behind that. Run by a bunch of cronies who look out for each other and screw the rest of you,,,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put money towards things that matter, ie people... you have to spend some money to earn some more. Cutting and cutting to keep showing a profit every quarter will eventually leave you with nothing and no way to earn anything anymore,,, stop rushing towards the cliff of unsustainable constant budget cuts and invest in growth.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Salaries are good compared to similar companies

    Cons

You are expected to work 60-70 hours per week at a minimum. Work-life balance does not exist. HR department is the worst in the industry - most of them are arrogant, condescending, enjoy gossiping about their people's issues with others, and feel they have much better things to do than listen to you and -god forbid- try to help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Outsource the HR department, or kick them all out and replace them with true professionals (demand that HR managers will get certified in their field)

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

a company with a respected name in the BSS industry

    Cons

you are not a human , but a resource. it is best if you are single with no personal life demands
they do not try even to keep the long time employees with the experience and prefer to replace them with new ones with lower salaries (but who cares that the project quality is crap - they'll bring evrybody and their moms on the last 100m of the project, you will work 24x7 and even all the merit for success is yours, some manager that came to "help" will take all your credit).
    not enough space

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

remember we are not slaves or figures in the resource plan. Plan the resources accordingly and reduce the resources once the project is stable, do not reduce budget first, bring the project on the brink of colapse, spend more than initial budget to fix on last moment killing everybody around to barely complete a another poorely delivered project.
