    Pros

It's a job and any job will do. The few remaining people there.

    Cons

The way they still treat the employees.

Senior Management has no problem with lying and forcing the Manager to ask preloaded questions at all-hands and also has no problem ending these meeting when faced with difficult questions in order to not answer them.

Went from 4 large builds to 2 large buildings to 2 smaller buildings to 1 building to 1/2 a floor.

    Advice to Management

Come up with something new besides "You don't fit into the new working model" at the next round of layoffs.

    Pros

Salary. The pay is very well. I am making more for less responsibilty than at previous position. I enjoy working with the people that I work directly with. My GL and PM are easy to work for. As long as I do my work, they are satisfied. They don't micro manage as I have seen with most of the other managers.

    Cons

Currently it's not very stable. There are rumors of more layoffs to come as they move more and more of the operations to India. With the layoffs that we have had in the past, there is certainly no opportunity for advancement or growth. I haven't had a pay raise since I began working there. Pay is important. You just can't give a person a good review without a little increase in pay. You know the managers are getting theirs whether they deserve it or not.

    Advice to Management

During the next set of layoffs, please take a very close look at the people on the "GO" side of the list and an even closer look at the people on the "STAY" side. I am sure that you will come across several that can be swapped between lists.

    Pros

Great place for starting up a career. Lots of experienced programmers around (have to look for them carefully though :)

    Cons

Basically no possibility of career advance. Not much professional growth available after a certain level.
The worst mid level management I ever seen.
Promotion criteria: years in the company, whom do you know, sucking up to the boss.
    Much too many non-technical personnel.

    Advice to Management

Middle managers: you need to understand that you need to be qualified for the job you are doing.
Senior management: go back to earth.

    Pros

    - reasonable level of technical opportunities
    - large, complex projects/implementations give good opportunity to see lifecycle of large projects
    - get to work as part of a gloabl workforce across time zones and countries
    - good set of internal Amdocs tools which can make some things easier

    Cons

    - not much external training opportunities
    - poor communication from senior management gives the feel you dont know whats really going on
    - in our site focus was on cost cutting in many (this might not be true in other amdocs venues) and this gave us a view that amdocs was very stingy, more than necessary to run efficiently

    Advice to Management

    - take into account company culture more closely when acquiring other firms and evaluate technical strengths of staff more closely to ensure smoother transition

    Pros

The only benefit working at Amdocs' Consulting Division are:

    3 weeks vacation
    pay is good
flexible work environments (working from home)
    bench time
ability to move from one project to another...you don't feel stuck if you're unhappy on a project
    hot coworkers(consulting division)

    Cons

VERY Insraeli and Indian based workforce. Very hard to establish working relationships if you aren't Israeli or Indian.

People who succeed are the ones who "flaunt" their stuff and kiss up to management.

Performance Review Process is a joke. Instead of being reviewed by your DIRECT manager, instead your reviews are done by a "Career Counselor" who is based oftentimes, in another city. They have no real day to day input on how you're doing.

Essentially each year at each site, there's a pow wow between the managers. It's pretty much the career counselors job to "pitch" your value to the review managers. If your career counselor sucks(which many are), or if you have a bad relationship with one of the other review managers, you're screwed.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on taking care of your people.

    Pros

pay is good; some of management is great to work with

    Cons

    hours are long
there is not a work life balance as you can be involved in calls as early as 6 am and as late as 11 pm. I have seen many fellow colleagues work until 3 in the morning to get work completed. Time line are at times unrealistic and deliverables from Israel are at time lacking

    Advice to Management

Keep your emloyees involved and don;t say one thing and do another

    Pros

The company is stable for now, the pay is ok, you're exposed to a lot of other job opportunities you might want to consider with other companies or customers. Because of the type of services(Billing and billing related systems) that are offered, it takes a customer a long time to replace anything that Amdocs is doing for them. If you want a lesson in how to survive in the corporate world, Amdocs is great for that. There are lots of jobs so moving around within Amdocs, especially at lower levels is relatively easy. You also get the chance to work with people from a lot of different cultures, which can be fun at times.

    Cons

It's who you know, not what you know. Long hours. Company is run by accountants and lawyers. Not really a customer focus unless there is a crisis. You have to have a sponsor at the executive level or you'll never get anywhere. Hard work is usually rewarded with more hard work. You're expected to be available 24/7, even on vacation.

    Advice to Management

Have some guts and branch out of the Billing/SI space. Pretty soon it won't be needed. Take a few chances and invest in new business and products - don't wait until the customer asks you to build it for them. Develop some respect for individual employees.

    Pros

Potential for promotions if you work 24x7 and keep quite about the wrongdoing of your immediate supervisors. Gain strong project management skills and corporate survival skills. Learn telecommunications.

    Cons

Treating employees like commodities. Company being run by accountants that have a zero value next to the employee moral. Expected to work 24x7 without reasonable compensation. Political alignment with the current superstar is a must - loyalty needs to be to individuals rather than to the company.

    Advice to Management

Convert the current direct supervisor loyalty mentality to a corporate loyalty by reducing the power of the temporary superstars. Used to be a much better work place and can still get back to be that place if the spirit of the past or maybe even some of the old executives will be brought back. Stop thinking that the customers do not understand that you lost your morals.

    Pros

It's a job and only a job, but I like the few remaining people since we were aquired.

    Cons

The way they treat their employees. They don't seem to have a problem with telling lies to all the employees to justify the reason. (i.e. We value all you long term employees, right before they get laid off for not fitting the new business model). The business model of, you are over paid and I can hire 10 people in India based on your salary. They only care about the cost per employee, not the results.

    Advice to Management

Nothing as they see all employees like disposable diapers. Once used up, discard them and get a new batch.

    Pros

The pay and benefits are probably above average, although don't expect stock options or ESPP.
There are still groups of people left over from acquisitions that work well together, but they are shrinking and becoming infected with Amdocs culture.

    Cons

The culture is truly terrible. Don't expect
    -Management to back you up
    -Professional training
    -New Employee training
    -Timely managment review
    -Career mobility

    Advice to Management

The top and bottom lines suffer because of the way employees are treated. It's so bad as to be demotivating.
