Current Employee – been working at Amedisys part-time for more than a year

ProsWork with very nice and professional people, pay for continuing education, have good pay rates, flexible time schedule.

ConsThe worst part of working here has been my computer. It is a piece of trash and will not connect most of the time, so I have to go into the office every at the beginning and end of the day to transfer pt information. I had a better computer at one point, but it died and no one can seem to get this one to work. Most of the people I work with say their computers die about once a year. They are a pain!

Advice to Senior ManagementThanks for being so nice and treating me like a friend and professional. It is a nice change.

Former Employee – worked at Amedisys full-time for more than a year

ProsThis company's staff takes good care of patients at home providing compassionate and knowledgeable home care. Management provides positive support for staff to help them achieve company goals.

ConsCar allowance/reimbursement could be more. Mississippi nursing salary lower than Louisiana.
It is sometimes difficult to stay focused on providing care when some patients just want to visit. Electronic charting time consuming.

Carrollton, GA

Current Employee – been working at Amedisys full-time for more than 7 years

ProsThere is plenty of room for advancement.
DOO and other clinicians are great to work with.
Several options available to make extra money:)

ConsCall consists of having a full scheduled and being on call....not fesible
Friendship triumphs hard work and dedication
Health Insurance is expensive!!

Advice to Senior ManagementSometimes experience should overcome education.
Increase mileage rates, gas is getting too expensive!
Increase pay per visit rate for LPN's and RN's(esp for starts, recerts and PH).
If Honda Employees can pay $10/wk for family health insurance with 10/ded. I think Amedisys can do better than the insurance that we have now.

Amherst, NY

Current Employee – been working at Amedisys

ProsGreat pay, excellent training. Flexible work schedule. Never alone help is only a phone call or e-mail away. Potential for professional growth

ConsPay per visit is nice but it causes greed example is the RN's can control a LPN's paycheck and managers don't want to be bothered with this
Managers are allowed to speak to employees in a less than respectfull manner
When problems are brought to management they turn the other way as long as the visits are covered

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees. Handle a problem in a professional manner, not a personal one. Care center should act as a unit not 3 seperate entities. Because someone has worked here for a long time does not make them a good employee. Hold people accountable and make them treat everyone with dignity and respect.

ProsGood benefits and being a major company

ConsToo high of quotas & expectation - they should look @ each individual territory - for what works in one area may not work in another area...Consider the territory

Baton Rouge, LA

Current Employee – been working at Amedisys

ProsThe pay and benefits are very competitive, and Amedisys is a large, but young company that isn't stuffy and arrogant. It's nice to be part of something good, making a positive difference in people's lives.

ConsAmedisys has grown very quickly, and it's good they're taking a moment to "digest" all the acquisitions. Orientation and especially IT support are pretty poor. Orientation is actually pretty lengthy and developed, but it's designed for corporate to being able to protect itself, not as much to actually orient employees. Seems like IT focuses on its development work, and desktop support is kind of the neglected stepchild.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou know where the problems are... keep working to fix them. More internal engagement of staff to try to connect corporate and all the offices together.
