Mangers that want you to excell

    Teller III (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsMangers that support their staff and work with them to help them better themselves and get further in their carrerrs. The salary is also very competitive and Tellers typically get paid more at Amegy than they would at other banks (even the big banks)

ConsSome of the Managers can be petty and try to screw over other branches in order to help their branch out.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be more of a united front and less silly bickering among the Branch Managers and Assistant Managers. While we have branches that all have different goals we all work for the same company and should work together not against each other.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Do your research before applying

    (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsThere are some great people employed there that are willing to share knowledge and experiences and not be threatened that a individual will steal their job. Unfortunately, those individual are sparse throughout the organization.

ConsUnfortunately, very much run by and still practices the "good ol' boy system" Extremely poor pay with poor benefits to match

Advice to Senior ManagementRetire the good ol' boys and modernize the company into the 21st century. Tenure does automatically suggest quality. Sometimes a tenured individual can simply be taking up valuable space, contributing nothing great, hindering another valuable asset in the form of an employee.

A place where you can expand your banking knowledge.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsIt is a very conservative company, family oriented bank and you will learn a lot.

ConsThere's not much growth and promotion within the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe ready to think on your feet and out of the box. If you don't know, don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Personal Banker II (Current Employee)

ProsThe work is incredible simple especially if you have had prior banking experience.

    ConsNo management organization
    No room for growth
If you decide to go back to school they will teriminate you
    No training whatsoever
Very few people actually know how to use the operating systems

Advice to Senior ManagementDistrict managers please organize your branches and enforce attendence policy on managners. Do not overfavor some managers and let them get away with murder.

It would be better if the managers weren't so awful

    Teller (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsYou get 2 weeks vacation. Which is more than most other places right off the bat. I was able to do a lot of school work also. But that's about it.

ConsThe managers suck! They have no management skills whatsoever. If you give them an suggestion or express concern about a fellow employee, they automatically go into defensive mode and won't listen to what you are saying.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees. Not everything is a fight. You are not getting attacked when we tell you something. So grow up and accept that suggestions given to you.

Sweatshop with weird, manipulative management. High turnover with certain members of the management, worrying.

    ProsPaycheck, experience with new technologies.

ConsLack of communication with senior management and lack of avenues for future growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep abreast of what is going on within the ranks and keep track of managers with high turnovers, they are a huge flag.

    Does Not Pay Competitively

    Relationship Manager (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsLooks great from the outside in.

ConsDoes not pay market salary. Everyone who enters at the same time are pushed along at the same pace. Your advancement is a secret. they do not let you know what you will be able to make. For a company the does not like uncertainty from their customers they do a really bad job of letting people know what their potential is.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay employees market salraies so they can reduce turnover.

    A learning experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsA personable Texas corporation that cares about its employees. Not a lot of room for growth though. Caring management though.

ConsVery, very small raises, regardless of how long you've been with the company. Extremely poor health benefits with high deductibles.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward employees for their dedication and length of service by giving them raises, and don't hire new employees on at higher salaries.
