    Pros

Pay is good & that's why more people haven't quit. At this time there is still a pension being offered. Some departments have flexible schedules. If you smile, play the office game, & participate in corporate events, they will promote you There are still some very nice workers here, they're just hard to find because they're hiding from the crazy and nosy ones.

    Cons

They require more education for entry level jobs now to keep you hooligans from applying. Some people can sleep and socialize most of the day, get in a crunch, and they will force others to "help them out" (do their work for them). Has become more competitive over the years. Don't try to get a friend/relative hired here unless you know somebody who knows somebody. LOTS of people related here. Some management employees resent the amount of money hourly employees make and will deny overtime. More overtime hours for us means less bonus money for them, so there you go. They play favorites, and change job requirements to fit who they want.

    Advice to Management

You know why people aren't "engaged"? One reason is because favoritism runs rampant. Another is because people have worrisome, micromanaging supervisors. Also, changing the job specifications to filter out certain people is insulting. Why do people need an associate's degree to work in customer service? That's not going to filter out who you want to filter out. Just exclude the candidates who aren't related to somebody you know like usual.

Was great at the beginning, but as I got older and made more money it really went down hill fast.

    Pros

They offer great benefits, a 401k and a pension.

    Cons

They don't value people of experience, they prefer younger employees who they can pressure into a constant "value added" tenure. Always have to prove your worth, you are only as good as last month, and if they don't have future plans for you then you are made out to be stupid and worthless....old. The few that made it into upper positions are set, but those who haven't are devalued and shoved out the door.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach, you spent so much money on Project Unfreeze and don't live by it's principles. You need to realize everyone's strengths and utilize them, don't try and shove them into the same mold as everyone else.

    Pros

Benefits, vacation and pension are excellent. I would recommend to a friend based on compensation and benefits only. Wasn't enough for me to stay.

    Cons

Management in HR more concerned with their "titles" than what they produce. Inconsistent hiring practices. The on-boarding processes are unprofessional -- no one can answer questions related to benefits or other employee perks.

    Advice to Management

Slim down the layers of management. Also, get industry leaders in HR that know fair hiring and will model it. Modernize hiring and interview techniques. Hire more support staff!

    Pros

Pay was satisfactory for an internship, interesting to visit the power plants and facilities across the state

    Cons

Work was tedious and not challenging, contributions did not seem to be fully appreciated, supervisors often failed to listen to suggestions, co-workers are constantly avoiding work by socializing

    Advice to Management

Just because you run a government sanctioned monopoly doesn't mean that you should allow employees to slack off so much

    Pros

One of the more stable employers in the St. Louis area

    Cons

Leadership likes to talk about being innovative, but new or innovative ideas are often crushed under the culture of "We've always done it this way." Too often management does not look for cost effective ways to manage the company which leads to the constant requests for rate increases.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to ask what the leadership can do to make the company more viable and increase the value to shareholders.

    Pros

Exceptional compensation and benefits-premium pay package with very little effort required established company; secure in what they are doing-no pressure to always do more

    Cons

Disparate treatment for employees on regulated vs unregulated sides of business; unregulated side treated as poor step children-don't have funding to maintain equipment but are still required to participate in all company programs-even to the point that they layoff people but still participate in employee safety fair that costs thousands--for a 1 day "picnic"

    Advice to Management

Try to focus on making the business better; investing in equipment and people instead of always working on ways for you to look good, win awards based on work of others and regularly enhancing your own pay, bonuses and perks.
