    Great benefits, flexibility to make your schedule almost anything you want, friendly coworkers and managers

    Cons

    Can't relocate just anywhere, has to be within 75 miles of an office

    Give the lower employees more credit, they can handle more tasks.

    Everyday is different and u meet all types off people.. There's never a dull moment @ the airport

    Pleasing a customer who's mad about delays, cancellations or the fact that they're late for a flight.

    Make decisions with you heart.. not always your mind.. We're all humans and need to earn a living.

    I have been working at American Airlines part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Management, processes, organizational communication, compensation. Management served as mentors. Wonderful values and ethics policies. The managers were highly organized and goal-oriented. Exceptional leadership.

    Cons

    Lack of growth opportunities. Management should devise a plan to retain interns or part-time staff. However, this office closed. Unfortunately, there should have been a plan to transfer lower, but vital, personnel to other locations.

    I have been working at American Airlines

    Pros

    I really enjoyed the job and my fellow employees until a new manager arrived. She created a very hostile work environment and management didn't do anything to help. The benefits were good, pay was okay, but not great. I would work for them again, because of the benefits. They do promote quickly if you do a good job and are willing to move. They are good at promoting from within.

    Cons

    Fast paced, some things require perfection. Working the ramp can be taxing in severe weather.

    Pay more attention to when toxic managers are pointed out. When a whole station complains, consider there may be some validity to the complaints.

    Pros

    If you like to travel, you're surrounded by people like you, with the passion to travel. There's a good diversity of backgrounds. They like to hire from within.

    Cons

    It's now US Airways, not American Airlines. All the senior leadership is from US Airways. The president has publicly said he doesn't believe in marketing, so be cautious. Travel perks are for standby travel. With all the people laid off with flight benefits, not sure you'll really get to use them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Not everyone who came from the old American Airlines is clueless. There are a lot of good employees, please listen to their ideas.

    I worked at American Airlines full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    The pilots and flight attendants voted heavly to merger the two airlines. They did't like Tom Horton so they took the side which they thought was best for "their own group".

    Cons

    Now they are both complaining . I guess the big checks the pilots and flights got after the merger wasn't enough?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Put some real mangers who will run the company like a real corporation.

    Strong benefits, lots of stability even during merger with another airline.

    Cons

    Limited upward mobility. Management tends to promote unqualified favorites

    Give more options for upward movement other than transferring across the company
