    Flight Attendant

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at American Airlines

    Pros

There are no pros to this job

    Cons

Please make sure when you come to training and even after that you watch your back once you are on the outskirts of the company they are VERY RUDE and treat you like you are lower than dirt and for a company that claims they are all about making sure you succeed and are a "family" company trust me it is anything further from the truth!!! Go to another company that really wants you to succeed and pays you for training!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get nicer people to look after or train the new hires and they should take a refresher course in customer service to help them remember that they were once in your position

I worked at American Airlines full-time for more than a year

    Pros

very good company to work for

    Cons

No matter how nice you are to the customers they are still very mean and hateful for the most part. However, considering every time the customer turns around their flight is getting delayed if not canceled I guess I would be mean and hateful too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some really need to know what their job is.

I worked at American Airlines as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

I worked on aa.com as a consultant. I loved the way American Airlines has embraced agile. They provide constant training on agile as well as having plenty of coaches on hand for any questions/issues that come up. Having this dedication to a "methodology" across disciplines has provided a very stable and structured environment. The people at American Airlines (corporate office) make the place special. I have made life-long friends there.

    Cons

I don't have very many cons. I loved working there. Perhaps the structured environment might be a "turn-off" to some people. I'm not there now for the merger although this might be a temporary disruption to an otherwise well-oiled machine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you have been doing. I found that most of the upper management were accessible and very supportive.

I have been working at American Airlines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The family atmosphere is amazing! I have been a flight attendant with American for six months now and I feel truly supported. The flexibility is also wonderful.

    Cons

The flight benefits as far as buddy passes are pretty high, and I've worked for three other airlines.
