    Pros

Our 20/20 Mission is to improve the overall health of Americans by 20% while lowering deaths caused by heart diseases and stroke by 20% by 2020.

    Cons

Always want to do more to further our mission while improving the lives of others not only in my community but across the nation.

    Advice to Management

Continue to mentor new employees thru all aspects of the job, from fundraising, putting on first events and developing local outreach programs in underprivileged neighborhoods.

    Pros

The Mission of the AHA, the work ethic of the leadership and all employees, and our devotion to providing all Americans a culture of health is unmatched. Period!

    Cons

We are very serious about saving lives and have immense responsibilities....But I don't see this as a con. You just have to be the right fit for such an ambitious culture.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look closely at how well your top leaders are performing and all they are doing to drive revenue. It's pretty incredible! Compensation could more closely match the cost of living in places like NYC, Los Angeles etc.....

    Pros

-Great environment, great mission, and great benefits.

    Cons

Not many growth opportunities if you don't want to be a fundraiser.

    Advice to Management

Move more of the cool jobs in Dallas to Los Angeles! ;)

    Pros

This is great organization with qualified upper management. Being that it is a non-profit organization, business development positions are crucial to the organization. Good communication between colleagues, volunteers, and board members are necessary in all positions. So, if your interested in a position at AHA, you would definitely need to be a people person.

    Cons

If I'd had to choose a con, it would have to be the range of positions available. Nearly all of the opportunities involve business development and administration.

    Advice to Management

Develop methods of reaching out to different medical practices to diversify the group of board members.

    Pros

Fast-paced, Hard-working, thought provoking company who believes and lives their guiding values, American Heart University is one of the best learning and development experiences I have had in my 20 year career, excellent PTO, and time off during the week of Christmas that does not affect your PTO balance.

    Cons

Little bit of red tape and bureaucracy but you would see that in most companies and in non-profits.
