    Pros

Staff were dedicated to the mission and its values.

    Cons

A lot of organizational changes dictated from National Headquarters (NHQ). Prior to my departure in 2011 (found a new job), NHQ was "centralizing" many departments and functions. Back then, Regional Chapters (each County) kind-of worked independent from one another. There were re-structuring in HR, Accounting, etc.

    Pros

    Good people, Benefits are decent

    Cons

The organization takes a tally of every clerical error (and above) every day and emails your "problems" to everyone.

    Advice to Management

Focus on true issues rather than making employees scared to have an uneven ink pen blob leading to your information being shared with the the entire organization. Build quality, not fear.

    Pros

Different working hours each day. Opportunity for advancement. Good benefits, vacation time, sick leave. Work with different people each day and in different places.

    Cons

Communication often unclear. Need a new way of getting messages out to staff. Seems to be a lot of attention paid to budget, not to staff.

    Advice to Management

Bring back some of the old programs. Pay for staff to engage in classes, assist with learning. Have clearer goals for staff and open communication.

    Pros

Comparable compensation, very easy and straight forward repetitive work Great if you need a starting place to get experience in the work place, but I would suggest not to stay for very long.

    Cons

Repetitive work and strict on every form of written policy. Great if you need a starting place to get experience in the work place, but I would suggest not to stay for very long. Most of the employees that stay have no other options or have given up.

    Advice to Management

Most of the employees that stay have no other options or have given up, which includes management. I would suggest that you foster professional opportunities for employees.

    Pros

The pros were the perks and benefits. It helped me build my career in manufacturing and science. Great for someone to enter into the science and manufacturing field.

    Cons

The hours weren't the best and things were ever changing at short notice. Also, the pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage. Be fair to all employees and build healthy relationships with those under you. Congratulate them, give encouraging words more than critical ones.

    Pros

You get to be a part of a great mission for our country, as well as the world.

    Cons

There can be a lot of bureaucracy to get through before programs can be implemented.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work toward opening lines of communication that flows both ways - "down" from leadership, and "up" from front line staff and volunteers.
