Former Employee – worked at American Systems full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – - Good place for complacency and get paid decent for it!
- Good place to learn "what not to do" in the professional work force
- Good place to learn what bad management is all about
- Depending on which office/site you work at, you may land in a good group. The management in that group will take into account your needs for career growth and will try to motivate you with awards and incentives rather than fear.
- I would recommend this company to a friend. If that friend is just looking for a paycheck and a job to pass the day.

Cons – - Good, motivated employees usually leave within 2 years.
- Lack of opportunity for growth. Get pigeon-holed.
- Unprofessional HR Department.
- Again I can't lump all management together, but many of the upper management are unmotivated, and have outdated thinking.
- Get stuck in the mentality of "that's how we do things".
- A revolving door company. Very focused on just the bottom line - everyone is expendable.

Advice to Senior Management – Don't kill new ideas and enthusiasm by saying "that's not how we do things".
Realize and recognize your top performers. (before they leave)
Let go of the non-performers, bad-performers, and toxic-performers. They are only discouraging the good employees, and pushing them out of the door faster.
