I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good benefits and decent salary.

    Cons

Leadership in business units is weak. Poor corporate communication. Lack of techniques and practices to motivate and retain workers. Leadership does not motivate; instead, a culture of "scolding" prevails.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a clear strategy for retaining talent. Provide leadership training to management. Sharpen operational processes to stay competitive and to exceed customer expectations. Have clear strategy for remaining competitive; at this rate, the specialty pharmacy arm of the specialty group will not succeed.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Work environment was very laid back
not a lot of hard deadlines
flexible with time off (you don't have to put in extra hours later to make up for it)

    Cons

    pay is mediocre at best
basically in a cubicle all day
they are real penny pinchers (understandable based on their market but still...)

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Good benefits and decent pay.

    Cons

Management not all on the same page. Manager not interested at all in his job and favored people that did the same. Unfortunate because could have been a great workplace.I was a victim of warehouse closing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the bad employees who have no interest in improving the work culture and employee morale.

I worked at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

stable, established, profitable, Fortune 100 company. Well respected company in the industry. Advancement opportunity available for those that fit company mold, drink the Kool-Aid. Good benefits package.

    Cons

Too many politics overall, people sometimes advance on favoritism, not merit. Big, corporate machine, easy to get lost in the shuffle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach, be more transparent. Reward people by merit, not by those who "kiss up". Too many chiefs in this company, not enough Indians.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good location.
Work hours are convenient and therefore there is good work life balance.
pay perks are usually good although not the best.
Management is understanding, so work from home is almost always allowed when requested.
work is not pressurized. kinda relaxed work atmosphere.
co workers are friendly and nice to talk, although there is no one here you can call a 'genius', every one is knowledgeable.

    Cons

Not too many politics but there is blame game usually.
If working in software wing, its a horrible place as most of their technology is proprietary. so once you are out of this job, the experience you attain is worthless. or, you have to stick to them for the rest of your life(this works well for a middle aged guy who wants to settle down in life, not someone in the mid career stage)
there is dependency in the company. if the key person for a specific project is not in the office, most of your stuff might be pending till he/she comes back.
cafe downstairs is okay, only for a quick snack or atmost breakfast stuff can be purchased. lunch is really bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most important thing to do is to find the right person for the right position. There are avenues for consultants and full time personnel, but deciding who should be employed under what type is something the managers need to think deeper. Usually consultants are not interested in working on a proprietary material as it wont help them in their career and is more or less a waste of time.

I have been working at AmerisourceBergen full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They always seem to be hiring which is a plus for a lot of people. Depending on which team you're on the work isn't awful. There is job stability if you're on the right team and if the right people in management like you.

    Cons

Depending on who your upper management is or which pharmaceutical company you're actually working for it can make your life pretty unbearable. At the beginning of the year they hire a massive amount of temporary employees but most don't know what they're doing and it causes those of us who work here normally to have to double our work to assist with the newer employees or totally redo what they've already done.
