    Pros

Many great people to work with; lots of learning opportunities; definitely a great place to do science; great benefits

    Cons

Undergo lots of changes which sometimes causes uncertainty for career direction; promotions become more challenging and limited

    Advice to Management

The best way to engage staff and enhance morale is to be direct and transparent about undergoing changes.

  2. Great for several years, not sure how the restructuring is going to affect staff.

    Pros

Excellent benefits. The paid holiday week over the 4th of July and Christmas (outside of your normal vacation time) is fantastic. Lots of products in the pipeline.

    Cons

All Operations and Development concentrated in Thousand Oaks CA and Boston MA. Staff happiness used to be very important and part of the culture...not so anymore.

    Advice to Management

Get through the restructuring and "right the ship". Value staff happiness again and you will get so much more from the staff.

    Pros

Great people - intelligent and driven individuals that do the right thing
Great benefits - Overall tremendous benefits. 401k, RSUs, stock options, fantastic health plan.

    Cons

Salary doesn't increase very much over time. If you come in with a strong base salary then you're set. If not, then you'll get stuck with a relatively lower salary than your peers even with top performance marks.

    Advice to Management

Kudos for the corporate strategy. On the talent management side, would appreciate more emphasis on professional development and rewards. From my perspective, talent management process seems very bureaucratic.

    Pros

Learned a lot from this company. Many talented people. Great Experience. Benefits were very good.

    Cons

Work/Life Balance is difficult because dedicated people there give 200% and that is expected, especially in some groups.

    Advice to Management

Help people to feel that work life balance is truly ok.

  11. Pays competitively but high stress, no benefits for contractors.

    Pros

Pays competitively, beautiful campus, generally good team efforts.

    Cons

Unstable due to layoffs; tends to hire contractors, not full-time staff. Too much work for too few bodies.

    Advice to Management

Cut unnecessary spending/waste rather than staff, for improved morale (eg, not business flights, not throwing away business supplies that others need, etc.)
