Family like atmosphere

Retail Media Merchandiser (Current Employee)
Palmdale, CA

I have been working at Anderson Merchandisers part-time for less than a year

ProsFriendly employees, easy work, early morning hours, good pay.

ConsNot enough hours (only 8 hrs a WEEK) and need better communication between managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more hours, need to provide telzons cause some stores don't have enough for Anderson employees and makes jobs harder to complete. Also it would be good if we can view the hours we worked and what we will be getting paid a few days before we actually get paid instead of having to wait for our paystub to be mailed to us after we have already been paid.

Not the worst place to work

Retail Media Specialist - RMS (Former Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I worked at Anderson Merchandisers

ProsDecent pay for the work
No bosses breathing down your neck all day
Chances for overtime for those who want it

ConsExtremely repetitive
You're basically a glorified DVD stocker
The travel for RMS positions can get old fast

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide some sort of incentive for the RMS position. I worked my butt off for 10 months with the company and didn't receive a single bonus or recognition. It would go a long way.

If you like Retail this is a job for you!

Retail Media Specialist - RMS (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at Anderson Merchandisers

Pros- Early hours which vary and typically off by afternoon
- 2 days off usually per week
- Benefits for full-time employees are decent and improve after one year
- District Manager is very competent and aware of issues which arise
- Work by yourself and at a pace which most can handle

Cons- A lot of customers will approach you so you have to help them at Wal-Mart/Best Buy
- Hours can and sometimes will be cut when projects are priority
- Sometimes you can't finish project done in given time
- Unhappy Best Buy employees under stress bring moral down
- Best Buy or Wal Mart will sometimes use you as one of their "employees"
- Somewhat lack of communication between Management of Anderson and Best Buy
- A lot of survery's to do each day, which sometimes are irrelevant/but are necessary for upper management to understand what's going on.
- Many things to do so you have to balance your week and hours

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to get more in touch with the upper management of Wal-Mart or Best Buy with Anderson's District Managment.

Easy but early!

Retail Media Merchandiser (Current Employee)
West Simsbury, CT

I have been working at Anderson Merchandisers

ProsGreat pay! I'm sure I make more than Best Buy employees would make doing the same thing
Plenty of hours (I'm part time but allowed to work up to 40 hours a week)
Essentially given free reign over the entire media dept.
I really like making things neat and orderly so

ConsLeast favorite thing is going in at 6/7 AM everyday, but theres nothing Anderson can do about that.
Anderson Associates are essentially on their own in the store (there's no one to ask for help) so you have to call the help desk and literally wait 20 minutes to get any answers to problems
Computers and tech are down frequently, we just started using CN50's which have been very clunky and error prone.

Advice to Senior ManagementPersonally, I love my managers. They're always helpful and available even though the company is constantly expanding to new areas.

I love the job. But boy am I taking a beating.

RMS (Current Employee)

I have been working at Anderson Merchandisers

ProsWorking for Anderson for the Best Buy account has the potential to be a really great job. You get to work with movies and music, you don't have someone breathing down your neck if the job is getting done right, and the hours are cool ( usually out by 3pm, off Saturdays)

ConsThe Anderson-Best Buy relationship is still at its fledgling stages. The structure is one that relies on each level employee to perform their job with competence and efficiency. When this does not happen at any level, the whole thing breaks down. And when the broken part is in a position of high level management, you can bet that as the subordinate you will take the brunt of the crap for it. The work is not hard, but it is extensive. Unfortunately the urgency of hiring and training has been completely absent. No staff = work not getting done. Work not getting done = hostile Best Buy. I have faith that we are just experiencing growing pains, but certain things need to change before there is any relief.

Advice to Senior ManagementOrganize yourself better. Follow up with your stores when they need something instead of following up only when you need something. Don't blow off little issues until they magnify into big issues. HIRE PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING TO STAY.
