    Pros

Great discount, great medical/dental plan, district managers will leave you alone if your store is making numbers, does allow some freedom with management scheduling

    Cons

Corporate and upper management completely out of touch with the field. Unrealistic expectations, you basically work with a skeleton crew and still have to convert with two part coverage on a day with 600 visits, expect to work every single major holiday while corporate gets to enjoy all those days off. Upper management hipocrosy and contradict what they stand for. Say they are all about internal engagement, but really don't care and say if someone doesn't like that they only get 8 hours a week, they can quit.

    Advice to Management

Have corporate and upper management manage stores in today's current economy for a year and see how they do.

    Pros

The clothes are beautiful and the customers are classier than other retail establishments.

    Flexible work hours

    Guaranteed lunch break

    Cons

Virtually no employee benefits. Employees get 40%-50% off, however the store runs those sales almost every week. This means that the benefits from being a customer vs being an employee are almost the same.

The push for Ann Taylor cards can cause a hostile environment among the employees. One of my fellow employees quit because she believed another employee was taking her card sales and she wasn't getting the recognition she deserved for being a good worker.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge good workers based on how well they do their job, not on how many cards they sell.

    Pros

Great working environment overall. The associates are friendly and work well together.

    Cons

Upper management was very demanding and regarded sales team as just that... sales team. A lot of turn over within upper management team and they were relatively new to the company. Most of the associates are part time employees so they weren't really committed.

No advancement, that's why I had to find a better position at another company.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring new upper management and promote from within. More full time employees that are passionate about their careers.
