Great Experience, effective for a college student

Sales Associate (Current Employee) Tampa, FL

ProsGreat people to work with, amazing discounts (50%)

ConsToo many employees; therefore, you don't get many hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementHaving 15 employees for just a small store makes it hard for other one to get more than 14 hours per week, some of them don't even work for a few week; therefore, it is somewhat useless to have that many employees

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great so far but unfortunately not a career

Ann Taylor Loft Sales Lead (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat atmosphere and people!

ConsCompared to other retailers and companies (Gap Inc, Starbucks, etc.) Ann Taylor/Loft pays low with little to know benefits and few opportunities for advancement. Only the store manager and co - manager are full-time everyone else has to be part-time even if they would like to work fulltime for the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp great employees that want to stay with the company stay. Increase wages and allow fulltime work for those who want it.

    Great team building

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThis was my first retail job. Everyone was patient in helping me learn. I also learned how to work on a team and how to provide customer service under any circumstance.

ConsThis was just a pat time job.

    Typical Retail Job

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Tysons Corner, VA

ProsThe managers were nice and clear about expectations and the sales team knew how to have fun yet take hold of their responsibilities.

ConsThe store and team was sometimes disorganized. Management would sometimes give conflicting orders so it was hard to figure out which had priority.

    Overall, a supportive, temporary environment

Ann Taylor LOFT Sales Associate (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat team members, great company values, flexible hours, pretty good sales discount, great for teens or young adults looking for part-time or seasonal work.

ConsDuring the busy season, you have to stay much later than scheduled (like closing at 1 am) and during the slow season, you might get sent home early at a minute's notice, which is very inconvenient if you traveled to work and only worked for 2 hours from your scheduled 6 hours shift. Or you may get your hours decreased for the week. It's important to remain flexible.

Advice to Senior ManagementSales Associate discount is great, except there are so many days where everything or a selection of items are 50% off that it doesn't feel like the associates got a great deal. In addition, I understand getting the clients to open credit cards is a huge goal, but the credit card bonuses need to be better to attract more clients. Perhaps if only people with the LOFT credit card can receive the 50% off discount on sale days, then you will have many more customers opening credit cards.

    Great Retail Job

Ann Taylor LOFT Sales Associate (Former Employee)

ProsGreat employee discount, upbeat attitude, quality corporate morals, flexible scheduling.

ConsThe constant pressure to open store credit cards.

Advice to Senior ManagementCool it on the push for credit cards, it is frustrating as an employee to feel as though you must coerce a client to opening a credit card.

    LOFT

Ann Taylor Loft Sales Lead (Current Employee)

    Prosgreat people, great employe discount.

Consleadership sets unreachable goals, sales every weekend, management isn't aware of people's achievements. During reviews they make excuses to not promote within the company instead they continue hiring externals. I keep asking to be trained for the next position and nothing.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy supervisor was not the nicest person. very unaware of his staff and their ideas.
