    Pros

Challenging work, interesting, opportunities to advance. Collaborative team, ability to really impact people

    Cons

Sr leadership out of touch, workloads are very large, lots of hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership 2-3 up is out of touch with daily work people are doing. Salary increases need to be looked at for long-term employees to right size against market. They say they are worried about engagement, but they continue to work there people too much and they do not appreciate the work being done. Most people are satisfied with their work only because their immediate manager is good. You have to be self driven in this job.

    Pros

I find my co-workers are friendly and helpful. They are willing to help answer your questions when you are not entirely sure what you are doing.

    Cons

Personally, I find managers are working remotely might not be the best model in building strong relationships with teams that are at different locations.

    Pros

I have been at Hewitt, then AonHewitt for over 15 years. There are so many different areas in which you can grow your career, it's up to you on where you want to go. There is an Open Opportunities database for colleagues to see what is currently open, and working with your manager you can work towards the next role progression if that's what you want. There's no lack of work or opportunity.

The work environment is also flexible. Many people work from home at least on an occassional basis. This doesn't work for all roles, like customer service center reps, but for many people it is available.

    Cons

The con to so many people working remotely is that new hires don't always get the training they need. Coaching is often done over the phone, which isn't as good as having that person sitting next to you for those random questions. Also due to the large number of people working remotely, the corporate culture suffers, as there isn't that 'water cooler' chatter and other informal communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your employees. Pay increases have been stuck around 2% for years, not even keeping up with inflation. If you want to retain talent, reward your performers. Communication has improved over the last several years, keep that up. Find a way to keep the workforce engaged with so many working remotely. Don't take away the ability to work remotely as this is what keeps many people with AonHewitt, but find a way to make the connection between colleagues strong in this type of environment.

    Pros

Broad range of interesting clients and industries, so that makes working for Aon Hewitt Interesting. Pretty good attempt by company culture to do the right thing. There are some really good people here who maintain good working relationships under challenging situations.

    Cons

Time requirements and demands can be challenging, sometimes lack of communication can be frustrating. Lack of ability to push business solutions that benefit clients are often hindered by slow company processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage independence and ability to fail when stretching for performance improvements. More flexibility negotiating contracts for outside vendors would be helpful.

    Pros

Aon Hewitt is a solid company and is well respected in the business community for their expertise in benefits administration and consulting. You continually build your knowledge as you get exposed to various processes and different approaches to getting the work done. As a junior colleague I have already given the opportunity to work from home occasionally and the work life balance is pretty much what you want it to be. Benefits are great, they match up to 6% of your salary 100% if you contribute to a 401k and their stock purchase program is very generous. Time off and health insurance pricing is competitive as well. Casual dress code!

    Cons

Colleague engagement is not where the company wants it to be, likely because many positions are offshore and work directly with those employed here in the US which makes communication and collaboration somewhat a chore. Compensation could be more generous, however if you are offered overtime (like I am) you can easily make that difference up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring some of the work back on shore to increase engagement. Labor costs are rising a lot quicker offshore than they are here, so the cost advantages are beginning to narrow anyway.
