Current Employee – been working at Apex Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – 1. They do a good job making sure you are paid every week as long as you get your time in.
2. Most of the administrative and recruiting staff are nice, professional, and upbeat.
3. The contracting rate is good.
4. When they hired me, everything went smoothly. There was not any "messing" around or unethical behavior which I've encountered with other contracting and staffing companies - i.e. no attempts to change the rate after we came to a verbal agreement and everything was pretty much on the level.
Cons – 1. Benefits are not that great. For example, the 401K takes a year just to qualify for enrollment.
2. The health insurance is not that good. high deductible and only 100K lifetime limit - one or 2 major health events could completely max out the insurance. Dental and other benefits are ok.
3. Not much in the way of employee activities, at least for contractors it seems. The corporate office is near Richmond, Va, but I never get invited to any events or even out to lunch - I'm not even sure if they have a christmas party.
4. Not much communication about what's going on in the company. There is a newsletter once a quarter, but that's about it.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide some better benefits and don't make people wait a whole year for the 401K.

Former Employee – worked at Apex Systems as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – Pay was great.
My recruiter was very supportive, & positive through my two year contract.
Cons – Had to fight to be paid for the holidays listed in my contract.
Some paperwork was misfiled, and there was a lapse in my employment.
Mediocre & expensive benefits.
Advice to Senior Management – Better communication with employee & on site management to ensure documentation & paperwork is filed in a timely & correct fashion.

Former Employee – worked at Apex Systems as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – Insurance and Disability rates are significantly lower than TekSystems' rates. They take you out to lunch frequently, but are not generous with their logo gifts unless you tell them that Kforce brought by blankets, sweatshirts and mugs (which they do, especially for the holidays).
Cons – They tend to sub contract from other contractors, so they are essentially the middle man. I ended up filling out 4 time cards each week.
Advice to Senior Management – See what competing contracting companies are doing and try to do the same or better.

Former Employee – worked at Apex Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – This is a great first job out of college for someone who doesn't quite know what they want to specify in career-wise. Apex offers great real-world experience, trains its employees to be comfortable on the phone and in front of clients, and give them sales exposure that they can use in any future job. The people are fun and young (my boss was barely over 30) and Apex touts its "work hard, play hard" mentality.
Cons – The base salary is very low and it takes a good 6-12 months to build up your commission. As a recruiter, the job is very repeptitve and mundane. Employee and contractor turnover is relatively high and there is not much loyalty between Apex and it's contractors (both ways). These jobs aren't mentally stimulating and even though I was the youngest person in my office, I felt as if I was the most intelligent person there. I left because I did not feel challenged, was bored by the position, and I didn't like the type of contractors I had to deal with on a daily basis.
Advice to Senior Management – Find quality internal employees and entice them to stay, too many people leave because of seeing turnover in their office and make the job responsibilities more challenging rather than "smile and dial".

Current Employee – been working at Apex Systems full-time for more than a year
Pros – You will get paid on time.
Cons – Don't expect your account rep to follow up and response to your requests. They do not keep in-touch, you won't hear anything (at least anything good) from them.
Advice to Senior Management – Make sure your account rep knows that the contractors pay for their salary. They need to be respectful and appreciative toward the contractors the place.

Former Employee – worked at Apex Systems
Pros – Unlimited earning potential, ability to advance to difference career paths, good culture, fun atmosphere, strong support staff, good benefits, and ability to build a resume.
Cons – Large Company, not flexible when it comes to new opportunities, general lack of adequate branch management, too focused on goals, meetings, discussions, feedback, etc.
Advice to Senior Management – Apex seems to be a company in which people are able to manipulate their way up the corporate ladder. They don't seem to look under the hood when it comes to success or failure.

Current Employee – been working at Apex Systems
Pros – Good pay, nice contracts and pleasant office staff.
Cons – Unstable contract jobs, not able to support Corp 2 Corp contracts for client, terrible benefits for contractors. Recruiters do not seem to know you are on a contract assignment already.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide C2C arrangementsa and better benefits for contractors including job assistance when contract lapses.

Current Employee – been working at Apex Systems
Pros – Apex has a fun and collaborative environment, you definitely get out what you put in
Cons – Unless you want to get "promoted" into Sales, the room for career advancement is severely stunted
Advice to Senior Management – Bridge the gap between the top and those doing all the leg work at the bottom
