    I worked at Arena Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    The best benefits of any company in the San Diego area. A few nice people to work with who know what needs to be done.

    Cons

    The management and project teams did not move projects forward in a timely manner. There was a deplorable lack of decision making that kept everyone waiting for work to be done. The associates and a handful of key (i.e. popular) lab heads operated at a low capacity but were falsely regarded highly by upper management. As a result of the lack of interest in their career development, associates became uninterested and lacked motivation. In the end, the work environment became depressing and unbearable. Any individual with skill or talent slowly left the company for better opportunities.

    Pros

    Good employee stock purchase plan. There used to be a lot of great team building, offsite events. Benefits were above average.

    Cons

    Low pay and too many cutbacks on benefits. The amount of work was not consistent. Long meetings with no decisions being made.
