    Absolutely Terrible

    I guess I'll start from the top down. Management here is horrendous. The way Argus as a company manages its assets, down to how the managers manage their teams. Just poor quality management all around. The company itself could care less about you. The rate of turnover is extraordinarily high, so high in fact, that if you stay there for three or more years, you are probably in the top 5% of employees who have. This company will make you work easily up to 12 hours a day.

    Don't even get me started on the computers they give you. You would think that a rapidly growing company who handles multiple PETABYTES of data would have some decent quality machines to handle all of that data processing. Wrong. They stick you with a computer, that which I calculated, cost them less than $30/computer. A lot of machines are still on XP too which is hilariously awful. The computers themselves I think have around a gig of ram each? It's absolutely terrible and takes FOREVER to get things done. For a company that expects so much from their workers, how about spending your money on things that would increase productivity for your company? It makes absolutely no sense.

    Many of the managers are just horrible people. Talk about condescending and treating employees like replaceable garbage. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some fantastic managers, who do actually care about you and treat you as a person, but don't expect much of it. Many managers think extremely highly of themselves, so much so that it is just laughable. They are so oblivious to everything except things that will earn him or her more money in the end. They expect respect too, which I find hilarious as well.

    There is no organization here. Everything seems to just be done on the fly. They use old, outdated code generated years ago by people who had enough sense to move on to another company. Nobody has any idea what is going on. Argus just tends to wing it, and miraculously gets by. I guess that's due to the fact that they work their employees in to the dirt. Work smart, not hard, should be the ideal scenario in any type of work, Argus does the exact opposite.

    If you went to school for anything technical related such as Computer Science or Info Technology. Please do yourself a favor and do not even look at this company. They lie in their job descriptions saying that you will be making some real contributions in writing SQL code that will blah blah blah. All you will do is run pre-made, extremely inefficient crap. If you want to develop, do NOT come here. Run far away.

    Payroll can also be a nightmare sometimes. There are times when the payroll department will forget to give you part of your check, and you have to wait another two weeks to get compensated for their mistakes.

    To sum things up: Avoid this company like the plague. The company is expanding, sure, but if they continue on like this, it will eventually collapse to the ground.

    Advice to Senior ManagementQuit. Hire people who care about their teams.

    Warning: Don't work here - terrible place

    Senior Analyst (Former Employee)

    ProsThey will sponsor even people with bachelor's degree and no experience (eventually). Can help get you job with credit card company or maybe EY/PWC.

    Cons1. They don’t consider employees human. Everybody miserable, analysts and managers.

    2. They only care about revenue targets and will make you work after midnight, weekends, on holidays for weeks at a time. Analysts have had to work on New Year Day – so basically all your personal commitments don’t matter, ever. Bonuses are not bad but just not worth it for this hell.

    3. You have to work in office – most analysts don’t get laptops and can’t work from home. The office doesn’t have AC after 6pm in the summer, so you have to work past midnight in 90-100 degree temperature with no air circulation.

    4. No internet access for analysts - you have to work in White Plains for 60-80 hours a week with internet only on your phone.

    5. They take your personal cellphone number and put it in company directory, then call you anytime.

    6. Only 17 days off per year, including sick days. And you don’t get half of federal holiday like columbus day. A lot of time you have to push your already limited time off to next year.

    7. Normal companies have 360 feedback so everyone gives everyone feedback. Here you only give feedback to people below you. Thus managers don’t have to give crap about analysts. This shows every day in everything they do.

    8. They lie about sponsorship. They will hire analysts telling them they will sponsor them immediately, then push off to next year.

    9. They lie about giving good raise. New analyst will start at $65000 salary, then get pathetic 2-3% raise even though company revenue is up 20-30%. Imagine working 60-80 hours a week for a year to get such tiny raise.

    10. Expense report system very bad and takes very long for you to get your money back.

    11. Very cheap in general, particular for recruiting - you have to share hotel room when you go to campus to recruit. They won’t pay for 1 hotel room per person. And they will try best to make you come in and out same day as interview candidate through cheapest transport method, no hotel stay of course.

    12. This not real consulting – just brainless SQL coding all day.

    13. No good planning or project management, so big changes are frequently made at absolute last minute so analyst’s life becomes hell doing everything again with almost no time. And projects are usually understaffed as they clearly say they want to keep everyone very busy. Finally, data ops frequently lets major error get into production tables, which requires Client Delivery to find last minute workaround. Data ops people miserable too so don’t blame them.

    14. Most managers have little to no people management skills. Some who work here for years will actually SCREAM AND SHOUT at you if you only worked till midnight and didn’t stay all night to finish something.

    15. You have to bind presentations by hand. Expect to spend Friday evenings at work binding presentations for 2 hours instead of doing actual analyst work.

    Is attrition very very high? What you think? Awful place. Glad I am gone.

    Argus Cheats You With Misleading Job Description and then Beats the Soul out of you

    Analyst - Client Delivery (Former Employee)

    Pros1. Above average salary in this economy (not nearly worth it for this hell)
    2. Near New York City
    3. Good colleague camaraderie (at the analyst level mind you, because you are all SUFFERING)
    4. bagels and donuts on Friday, i guess

    Cons1. They recruit from top schools for client delivery and lie to prospects by claiming you get to do consulting, learn about the CC space...well you don't. This is a programming job where you crunch SQL code all day long without learning what any of it means. No consulting. Not even gaining an understanding of the credit card space let alone basic consulting. It's like the movie Momento, DON'T BELIEVE THEIR LIES.

    2. Everyone at Argus is disgruntled. Over the last 5 years something like 125 employees have left (this is not hyperbole). This place beats out all the i-banks as a shitty place to work.

    3. Managers here are incompetent, selfish, and manipulative. They don't care about the professional growth of analysts and beat the living soul out of them. I personally witnessed one good manager, so you are playing a game of Russian roulette here.

    4. They tell you that you are not expected to know SQL coming in. But you basically are. If you are not a whiz in SQL, expect hell and I promise that 6 months in you will either by searching for new jobs or if you are lucky enough not to be a foreign worker you will quit.

    5. Aside from the terrible work conditions (ok, you might say, so every job is a grind, this is life) the point is that YOU DON'T LEARN ANYTHING RELEVANT TO WHAT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN WHICH I MIGHT GUESS IS FINANCE AND CONSULTING. For good sakes, the world is a big place, don't take their offer.

    Advice to Senior ManagementDo the world a favor and LBO this company so it can be liquified. Otherwise, stop recruiting from top schools and claiming that Client Delivery is consulting. That's just plain cruel.

    ConsLong working hours - 10hours a day to 11 hours easily during week days. U have to work in weekends too.

    Advice to Senior ManagementNo one can work for this long hours on a long term basis. that is why everybody leaves in a year .

    My way or highway not even highway under the truck not once again and again........

    ProsCouple of Management folks are really great...Peers are good and hard working as they are on the same boat. Bonus is good.

    ConsThe Senior Management (senior not due to the designation) number of years I mean getting out of the college and starting a job then getting stuck to the job without any experience of management, ppl skills, treats you like servants or should I say slaves, if you have any question the response from management is I DON'T KNOW go and search for it then when you are not able to find it the same person will say Why didn't you asked.

    Working hours are insane, no learning opportunities except looking at the data and verifying it meaning a simple QA no decent analysis required. Its more of a Assembly line. Majority of analysis is done by the upper management as to take the credit.

    2 Development Units with a difference of day and night if you are lucky to be in the good group you will never leave this company trust me otherwise you will try to run away from hell.

    Trust me the good reviews are done by the company's HR team as I know the level of frustration among the folks over here, most of the members are stuck as they work on OPT or H1 and their GC processing is also done by the company so they don't have any option of leaving.

    Advice to Senior ManagementTake some Management Courses and treat the employees like employees not slaves, try to smile and encourage members not curse them all times just to show that you know everything....Trust me you will find the same folks putting more efforts happily rather than working afraid of being yelled at. Please do proper planing before you start anything do not try to be over smart, give open opportunities to employees as they do also have brains and they can also come up with some good ideas.

    By just changing your attitude you will be able to retain more employees willingly rather than trapping them by applying their Green Cards.
