    Pros

I had the greatest boss in the world. I left after they laid him off.

    Cons

Sr mgmt. has no gaming experience and are proud of the fact. They make ridiculous decisions. Only Australian yes men get promoted. You worked daily wondering if today was the day you would get made "redundant"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some people with US gaming experience and listen to them. Get rid of they Ozzy yes boys.

I have been working at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

Decent Company as a whole, good benefits and pretty work space/toilets

    Cons

Depending where you work aka department (not a small group the entire department) you will need to deal with marginally qualified micro managers. They have a cult like behavior pushed from their managers who pretty push all responsibilities down and blame team members for all the mishaps. You can do 1000 extra things but when you miss 1 thing in the 1000 items you get shamed.

Limited career advancement as much of hiring/work is planned in India. This implies you may be working 2 jobs in 1. The US timezone and also later during the day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When people started leaving it was already late, time is of the essence

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits and pay, working conditions might improve if they take the time to sort everything out, otherwise it's okay

    Cons

Management does not have a clue
Being a "valued employee" for 5 plus years, perfect attendance, requested PTO, it was denied, they knew the importance of the time off requested

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house with middle mgmt..... need more diversity ... give working employees an opportunity to advance, instead of putting the "friends of friends" in positions that they know nothing of.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally good people in the ranks, decent pay. Good facilities. Good working environment. Community involvement programs. Good design and development technology.

    Cons

Poor morale. Poor senior management. Don't plan on staying long. If you don't leave on your own, you'll generally be shown the door within a few years. The programs designed to change the culture are just window dressing. Lots of politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide genuine leadership.

    Pros

Great PTO and Benefits. Pay is fair for most jobs/levels.

    Cons

Poor management, no appreciation, beyond horrible communication and morale is in the tank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on replacing upper level management with competent and caring leaders. The management in place is only there to collect their paychecks and they never even say thank you. Questionable practices and interpersonal relationships in many instances as well.

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Anyone who isn't intimidated by a demanding work environment and the opportunity to interact with skillful, intelligent people who focus on getting things done will probably enjoy their work experience.

    Cons

The breakneck pace of product development may be a contributing factor to low employee morale and an unusual turnover rate that has not improved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone needs to be rowing the boat in unison, and in the same direction.

Former Employee - Field Service Technician in Reno, NV

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

lots of feedback(some even usefull), sometimes easy to contact people, scheduling was usually clear, end user information (i.e. PAR sheets, Base chip information, etc..) was easily accessible for field techs.

    Cons

obsessive focus on Overtime to the deteriment of normal operations, questionible job standards(i.e. "get the job done" vs "the approved way is.."), routine unequal division of labor among remote techs,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember who is the most important person in the company is: THE CUSTOMER. No customers, no business. No business, no job.

    Pros

If you can speak the political language you can fail to the top

    Cons

If you want to improve anything make sure you can do it alone and others don't need to contribute

    Pros

    Global company
    Reasonable pay
    Some really good workers

    Cons

    Highly political environment
Senior management (ELT) are highly dysfunctional with a lot of personal infighting.
The CFO is a corporate psychopath and a passive agressive bully.
Line managers just tow the company line
Senior management are no genuine about constructive debate--there way or the highway.
Very high levels of staff turn over
    Low moral
Far too many ex-IGT cast offs--they trashed IGT and now they are trashing Aristocrat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

no really advise to management, but advice to the board is to consider replacing some of your senior management

I worked at Aristocrat Technologies full-time

    Pros

Talented staff (but their creativity is crashed by beaurocracy and envy)
    Great CEO

    Cons

Personal vendetta allowed, cultural freedom is almost forbiden. Personal envy prevails, it seems that everyone fears at least one other person in the company.
Performance reviews are superficial and vague, with no recorded peer or management feedback (only a score).
Bulling is part of business, and somehow cultured.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respecting cultural differences, respecting each other and encouraging freedom to create may help. Problem is, these concepts are foreign to the management.
Implement a formal performance review that records peer and management feedback in writing, on the Intranet, and can be audited. Down-up and sideway reviews are constructive too.
