    Pros

Good experience. You get a feel of what working in an actual sales job will be like. Learn how to talk with businesses and find their needs. My people and business skills definitely improved by working here

    Cons

The week long training while slightly entertaining, was a bit uneccessary. It was 90% pep talk and motivational speeches that got old, FAST. Maybe it was just me but I saw right through it from the beginning. The reason they do it because this job is so demotivational. They set totally unrealistic sales goals. Expect you to visit at least 30 businesses a day and regional managers are always on your back about "going out there and getting into businesses and meeting DMs and making presentations". Some of the managers are okay, but most gave a very fake vibe and it was annoying. They make commission off your sales so of course they are always trying to push you. As a sales intern you only make commission AFTER you've reached 10,000 in sales, which is rediculous because for the average intern that is a it how much you will make in sales. And the 200 a week draw is going to be used plenty on gas. The product your selling is also behind in the times. Print advertising that literally no businesses are interested in. Not to mention their prices are too high especially for the area I was in. Prepared to get a lot of hard NOs. The worst part is that when you do make sales, you feel like you ripped businesses off, you know they arnt getting more value in the product than they are paying. And you often stretch the truth to make a sale, my RMs when they would work with me often did the same thing. It's disgusting. With everything they ask of you, working 40+ hours a week is almost expected. After making 30+ calls and meeting with your team twice a day, they also want you to enter all of your prospects and standards online. Which serves absolutely no purpose except for performance reviews which directly benefit, again your regional managers. Oh plus calling and emailing all of your potential clients which I was told don't count as calls.. Looking back on this job everything about it irritates me.

    Advice to Management

You need to reevaluate your business model top to bottom. Make the training more worthwhile. Your whole business model should not be based off taking advantage of interns. At least compensate them better. Until your mobile platform takes off, your product is totally obsolete.

    Cons

I got accepted along with 600 other students to go to training. They never told you it was from 8am to midnight or later every day. It was torture and you have about three days to memorize this huge script in your free time which you have none of. They would not tell me an end date of the internship which threw up red flags. You don't get paid unless you reach a ridiculous sales goal which I never got told. Oh and the company went bankrupt two years ago. Do not accept this internship. No one wants to buy advertisement in the planner and it's way over priced. You have to visit 30 businesses a day which is not possible. Training was a complete waste of time but I did make some friends. The leaders do not leave you alone, they will not stop calling you. I did not continue with the internship and quit. Just a giant scam. Oh and lastly they don't line you up with jobs at the end, just a dead end.

    Advice to Management

stop lying and be upfront with what the internship actually is. And maybe include yall went bankrupt they kinda is important

    Cons

Everything from managers and training are con artist and liars. Door to door sales. Basically a telemarketer who makes local business owners feel uncomfortable because they are forced to talk to you and listen to a sales pitch that does't make sense.

    Advice to Management

    Change the whole structure

    Pros

You get to spend time in Chapel Hill. The training is purely a form of brainwashing by uneducated sociopaths.

    Cons

The company finds vulnerable college students who are unsure about their future and recruits them to sell an ineffective and outdated product. Your job as an intern is to harass local business into wasting their money on forms of advertising that they should not waste their money on. If you have no soul, if you have no conscience, this is a GREAT place for you to work. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. Find meaning in your life. Find a passion. This is not the place for anyone to ever work.

    Advice to Management

You're all sociopaths with no vision. You manipulate insecure college students into selling an outdated and ineffective forms of advertising to small businesses owners who genuinely do not need it. You are bad people.

    Pros

    $200/week & good food downtown (that's it)

    Cons

They lie to you about everything. The commission does not work the way they explain. They told me after I sold $2,400 in advertising, I would start making commission (before the internship) THEN they told me after that I had to sell $16,000 to start making commission. We were their puppets/pawn in their game. We made their money. If we didn't make sales they wouldn't encourage us, they would just brag about their top sellers. It was really disheartening and I hated every second of it.

    Pros

nothing. you get yelled at, turned down, and made to feel like you are underperforming constantly.

    Cons

DO NOT DO THIS INTERNSHIP IF YOU EXPECT TO HAVE A FUN SUMMER. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. You will take home $200 a week, which will pay for the amount of gas you use to get around in a single week. You will essentially make nothing for sweating your butt off and getting denied from thousands of businesses. There is no real office. You must pick a location like Starbucks to meet at every morning and night and watch videos from the CEO. This is not beneficial to you solely because most days are spent walking around outside in your business clothes lying to businesses that the AroundCampus ads in the school planner and mobile app are beneficial for their business. That amount of money is out of reach for businesses that aren't intelligent enough to know that their money is best spent somewhere else. You will feel guilt for trying to convince business owners of this. The leaders are very aggressive and always blow up your phone. If your team is underperforming then they will come to your city more often and become forceful with you and business owners. Also, the training in North Carolina sounds like a fun time, but it was by far the worst week of my life. They make you stay up until 1am in the morning "practicing" your sales pitch and require you to be downstairs by 8am fully dressed and ready for endless hours in conference rooms. There is NO free time to go do anything, even go explore for dinner and night time activities. You cannot do this internship and school at the same time. You will not have any down time for a social life. When you get home from work, they expect you to email all the businesses that you visited that day, which can take up to another hour. Over half of the team I was on quit over the summer because they realized that the internship wasn't worth the blood, sweat and tears it is. You will not gain school credit for this internship either. Lines on your resume are more worth doing something else, BELIEVE ME.

    Pros

Learn to have confidence in going into different stores

    Cons

Everything. Managers can be rude, and pressure interns. Instead of trying to create a learning enviornment where interns are learning, managers pressure them to sell.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so mean to interns. They are trying hard. Just because you made a ton of sales when you were an intern, does not mean that you can bully others. Stop making interns feel bad if they don't make a sale.
