I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Company pays slightly above market average salary especially in IT department and for IT roles.

    Cons

Company survives on thin margins. Couple of bad quarters for the company and you start worrying about your job. Company has 'Pay money and get the service' style and doesn't seem to believe in Asset creation be it Infrastructure and buildings or knowledge, internal capabilities and employees. Centralization is taking its toll on various business processes. Reporting structure is often irrelevant and team structure is often complex. Management style is top-down and there are no forums or meetings to listen to junior employees and ground workers. Workarounds thrive over solutions and quantity thrives over quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put managers in place of managers and not just deliverers who delivers the figures in the report the way senior would like to see. Encourage questions, discussions, problem solving and bottom up style of management. Build internal capabilities and focus on long term asset and value creation. Reduce the number of functional silos and align teams to business processes.

I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Growth within comany, allowed to move to different interdepartmental areas
Room for relocation with US or global offices

    Cons

    No work/life balance
Too much work, too little time, not enough resources
Salary not competitive for a big company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand what is not working among operations. Listen to managers under the director level. Take care of the employees. I have experienced working at Arrow pre the current CFO and work/life balance and employee benefits were wonderful.

    Pros

Good Benefits package and somewhat decent work place environment

    Cons

Terrible middle management and upper management is disconnected from employees. Very outdated technology

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together and make established rules with no flex for certain individuals. Also, listen to suggestions from employees on culture issues as well as how to improve job function.

Former Employee - Business Management Intern
Former Employee - Business Management Intern

I worked at Arrow Electronics as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

As an intern they fly you out to Denver and the pay is decent. When I interned it was $15 an hour. As an intern the schedule was a lot more flexible as well. The training was decent. The best part by far was being able to travel to Denver to meet other interns, but I like traveling.

    Cons

My boss was the mirror image of Michael from the Office and did not know how to run a team sufficiently.I just did mainly data entry and it was a monotanous and boring task. No one on my team really respected our boss and honestly we thought corporate did not either. He would tell us TMI and weird us out a lot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Screen managers better before promoting or hiring them.

    Cons

promoting friends and favorites instead of qualified people.

I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The people are great to work with, everyone is willing to give career or business advice. Very conservative atmosphere keeps the workplace professional. Fast-paced industry provides a lot of different opportunities.

    Cons

Extremely slow moving with promotions, senior leadership has zero work-life balance but a lot of managers and directors fight for it for their teams. Very behind in technology for employees, investing in the wrong places - extremely externally focused with spending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote work-life balance, invest in employees
