I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Small company - great benefits
Salary market competitive though RSU grants have been eliminated for all but at the highest levels.
    Good work life balance.

    Cons

Believes in firing talent randomly. 10% layoff in India in July 2014 and 4% layoff in USA in Aug 2014 ostensibly to move jobs to India.

Lots of friction between upper management.

Anyone who hasn't worked with CDO earlier is let go !

    I worked at Aruba Networks

    Pros

Market leader in wireless networking, stable company (no regular layoff announcements) so that people can focus on work.

    Cons

New engineering management is from a BIG company and they are changing the BsC (biggest small company) culture. The management is biased, most benefits go to select few, no room for growth just based on good work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of opportunity. Employees can really own their career. Small company environment which means employees can really roll up their sleeves and make changes with little red tape!

    Cons

Communication SUCKS! Sr. Management does not communicate and therefore most information is found out through bits and pieces. Very frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communicate with individual contributors!

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Wi-Fi networking technology. The base pay and bonus plan is good. Benefits are pretty good and are on par relative to other hi tech companies.

    Cons

The culture is one where no one is accountable for anything. Another big Con is there is no 401K match. It was understandable when the economy was down, but 80% + of companies have reinstated their 401K plans with the economy on the upswing especially in Silicon Valley. There is a lot of frustration with the company direction/focus changing sometimes weekly and or monthly. No clear direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make all groups accountable for what they are responsible for. How can we grow without accountability.

I have been working at Aruba Networks full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People genuinely have a positive attitude and a desire to make great products and make Aruba a great company to work for. There are opportunities to be involved at all levels working on very exciting projects. All executives are extremely approachable even if the outcome may not be what you want. Flexible holidays.

    Cons

Ever changing company strategy, repeating the same mistakes, no money for critical resources but plenty to waste on other things. Some people with big job titles and very little quality output (not unique to Aruba I know). Limited career growth in my experience, happens by accident rather than by design.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in a new IT organization and the underlying systems. So much valuable time and effort is wasted using legacy technology or due to poor implementation of current technology. Practice what you preach about the biggest small company or abandon the term. Listen to your key employees, reward them for doing things the right way versus always rewarding the people that clean up the mess when things go wrong.

I worked at Aruba Networks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great technology but slow to market. Need alignment within software development and hardware development.

    Cons

Need to start acting like a larger company. Very sales focused. Very little focus on employee success outside of sales. Sr. Leadership team needs to establish broad goals and objectives that help align entire company vs. just marketing and sales objectives. Focus on developing leaders and employees is not there.
