Nice company, nice people, some shenanigans

Senior Procurement Analyst (Former Employee) Miami, FL

ProsVery flexible environment, friendly people, family friendly, lots of amenities (cafe, gym). Kinda of place you can work at for years. Good work balance.

ConsSome questionable management behavior and lack of HR intervention. 82% women make up the site I worked at. Men not promote as much.

Advice to Senior ManagementMangers and directors need coaching on how to overseeing a team and proper behavior and speech.

    Could be better!

Claims Examiner (Former Employee) Miami, FL

ProsI like the diversity and family-like environment. The building is created to make life easier, there is a gym, day care and food court on site.

ConsHard to move up within the same department, most transfer most of the time. Clients get everything they want even if it badly affects Assurant's employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Frustrating - Possibilities exist, but.....

    Leader (Current Employee)

ProsThere are a number of wonderful things about Assurant. People work hard and care a great deal about what they deliver. They are often willing to work long hours to get things done. In general, the value of common decency and common sense are up held.

ConsPeople want to do the right thing and contribute, however, poor decision making frameworks and internal processes don't enable people. It can take a LONG time to get decisions made, especcially when working across all lines of business. Highly matrixed organization w little to /no clear ownership of key business decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are times when consensus is not the answer. Senior Leaders should be willing to take ownership of key decisions even when not all are in agreement - espeicially if it is important to the long term health of the company,

Unstable work environment with changing management and team members. Typical office job.

Loss Draft Specialist (Current Employee) Duluth, GA

ProsBusiness casual dress with easy work tasks. Get to listen to music while working. Possibility of moving to other branches of the company.

ConsUnprofessional management; if you want to move up you have to participate in brown nosing. Unorganized processes, illogical production tracking, disastrous internal organizational communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit being so greedy and focus on efficiency. Higher pay will result in better employees/performance. Reward people based on their performance instead of tenure. Picking favorites based on personal emotional gratification is counter productive to creating a competitive and profitable business.
