    Pros

There's room to grow if you can get past some of the barriers. Many of the newer leadership accept and embrace change.

    Cons

Monolithic draconian IT team. There are still remnants of older management with closed perspectives.

I have been working at Assurant as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Assurant is a solid international company with four streams of business and is a Fortune 500 company. The company culture is fun, communicative and encourages teamwork.

    Cons

During my six month internship I have watched Assurant reduce staff, some willingly, most not. They're trimming the tenured employees/managers and leaving people with far less experience and knowledge running the business. This concerns me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so quick to reduce expenses at the cost of experienced leadership. Those left behind are struggling and feeling quite insecure.

I worked at Assurant full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Encourages work/life balance, fair salaries, wonderful (and immediate) benefits, great people. Very flexible hours, especially for those who work on client accounts and tend to be "on call" 24/7 depending on the client. Also depending on the team, management takes a very hands-off approach and gives employees the tools they need to make decisions and get things done.

    Cons

It can be all about who you know in order to get things done, rather than what's best for the clients.

    Pros

The people here are very nice and helpful

    Cons

The downside to working here is you can get lost in the shuffle. Talented people sometimes are not compensated for the real value they add.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Very flexible with employees, great opportunities for advancement, great daycare and school on-site at Miami office, good location, great knowledge development, good cafeteria and fitness center.

    Cons

Very few complaints about the company, work life balance can be difficult at times, just like most companies they expect more to be accomplished in less time.
