I have been working at AstraZeneca as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Working at AstraZeneca was incredible. Even as an intern I was treated like any other person. I was encouraged to work with advertising agencies by myself developing my own concepts. I was encouraged to sit in meetings just to learn. Everyone from the team I worked with was so friendly and caring. I had an incredible time there.

    Cons

Pretty much the only way to get into the company entry-level is through the traveling sales staff. Which isn't for everyone.

    I worked at AstraZeneca

    Pros

Was able to work directly with senior level managers, participate in development programs taken by all level employees, and have individual meet and greets with senior employees across multiple business functions.

    Cons

I did wish there were more opportunities to be hired on full time within the commercial learning department after graduation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to give interns exposer to meet, learn and observe from senior management.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The work life balance is highly encouraged and valued Employees are treated like the professionals they are and are trusted to complete projects to time and quality.

    Cons

Pressure can be high to perform and deliver in the context of tight timelines which may prove challenging but is offset with appropriate mentoring from experienced colleagues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to provide mentors to less experienced employees and maintain flexible working hours.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This job was my first job out of college and I couldn't have asked for a better company. I was introduced to corporate America, the pharmaceutical industry, and also gained amazing experience being a sales rep. Great coaching and training. The benefits are amazing and you can't beat the work/life balance. The company genuinely cares about their employees and is always checking in to make sure that we have what we need to succeed and be happy. Love working here.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is lack of personal development. Being in sales, you continue to do the same thing and say the same thing for years to come. Even if you get promoted, you still essentially have the same responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on ways to keep the sales reps engaged and constantly growing.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Very talented workforce
    - Team oriented working environment
    - Excellent compensation and benefits package
    - Flexible work schedules supported

    Cons

    - Frequent strategy changes leading to more layoffs in recent years
    - Need to do more with less has led to resource challenges in some functions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Frequent strategy changes is very hard on the staff when so many jobs/people are impacted. Pick a direction and try to see it through before changing again.
