    Loved most of the people i worked with

    No Development opportunities
    No training
    No performance management - no recognition
    People not valued (any more)

    Advice to Management

    Value and develop your people. Get rid of Poor performers.

    Pros

    Good benefits, flexible package.

    Cons

    Politics, culture of bullying from some old school style managers. Difficult to get ahead if you don't fit the mould.

    Pros

    Good remuneration. Interesting work. Flexible working environment. Some really skilled and motivated colleagues, genuine enthusiasm.

    Cons

    Upheaval due to move to Cambridge location. Downside of flexible working culture is the rise of the 9-to-5-ers now the site will close in 3 years time. Workforce tends to be cliquey which affects career development. There will be substantial new recruitment for the move, so it remains unclear what the future culture will be like.
    Shareholder influence may force the Pfizer issue if (when?) it comes up again this would be the end of AZ.

    Advice to Management

    Think more about career prospectives. Do something about nepotism and cliques.
    Resolve the move asap per department, don't let it drag on for three years like planned.

    Pros

    AZ IT can be very well paid with great benefits.

    Cons

    Constant reorganisations, almost one every year, likely to have to apply for your own job at least every 2 years. Low engagement from management.

    Pros

    benefits and salary are average for this sector.

    Cons

    food in canteens is more expensive than most restaurants, too many voices involved in decision making which seems to take forever. very arrogant senior management. training is non existant.

    Advice to Management

    stop treating az as your own personal gravy train. stop the constant turnover of staff and concentrate on simplifying things, not just talking about it.

    Pros

    Perfect work setting. Great work life balance and the opportunity to work with truly inspiring people. A great place to continually learn at the cutting edge of science.

    Cons

    High level miss managent of the company following the merger. Wrong behaviours adopted and encouraged. The tail wags the dog far too often.

    Advice to Management

    Please learn to reward and demonstrate value to the few remaining staff. Outsource out of opportunity rather than desperation.

    Pros

    Comfortable working life. Good work life balance and some good benefits. Some small opportunities to progress.

    Cons

    Poor hierarchical structure. Management not prepared to take risks on tricky projects... Years of bad decisions have led to a dejected research work force who don't have the energy or passion to innovate any more.

    Everyone is now just looking out for themselves.

    Advice to Management

    Be more meritocratic and promote those with drive and real passion rather than just the ones who fit in to the norm. Take more risks!

    This place needs a skunk works, but it's probably too late to save yourselves!

    Pros

    Good benefits, decent pay and good facilities. Treats permanent staff well. Some great people to work with, who were hard working and loyal.

    Cons

    The Nepotism that occurs, the dead wood who are content just to pick up their pay, the moaners who have never worked anywhere else and complain all the time, the restructuring that seems to occur yearly without being given enough time to bed in.

    Advice to Management

    You need to clear out the deadwood, stop the blatant cronyism that goes on and start hiring people based on talent rather than who they know.
    You should give the restructure time to bed in and show results.

    Pros

    Really good bunch of people - experienced, friendly and supportive. I really learnt a lot from my first experience of Big Pharma

    Cons

    Poor pipteline, and patent cliff approaching. As a result, seems to be a constant panic about the future of the business and regular restructurs which wipe out large numbers of staff. No stability or security for staff

    Advice to Management

    Take time to let a restructure bed in before you re-organise yet again!
