I have been working at AstraZeneca

    Pros

excellent flexibility and benefits. Good management structure. They really do look after their employees

    Cons

constant change. From outsourcing to bringing more work in there is always something to change and sometimes it's difficult to keep us

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

slow down the amount of change

Flexible and good work life balance

I have been working at AstraZeneca part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good benefits and bonus structure, good opportunities to work in other areas. Decisions can take some time though. Good place to work

    Cons

Quite political and sometimes have to work in role above your level without getting paid and compensated for this (and getting job title).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Benefits great but need to find a way of keeping the large experience and knowledge of people due to the re-structure of the company.

    Recommends

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Had a very supportive culture, but like most places it was very dependent on which team you're in and who your boss is
    Great at selling stuff!

    Cons

Crazy internal governance and decision making - very driven by personalities rather than reason
I left when things were going a bit crazy - hopefully things are better now.
The pipeline was looking extremely thin. Not sure it has transformed in the way the external world (and Pfizer) thinks it has
Talent management and development was for the few, and was totally dependent on the goodwill of your line manager

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve decision making at the highest level
Make development and talent management accessible to all.

    Pros

Great company and benefits. Treats employees well. Flexible working available if required. Managers care for their employees. Good working atmosphere.

    Cons

Unfortunately due to the market, company has restructured a few times and have displaced some employees and made secure employees unsettled..

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of people with a real passion for the work AZ does - this surprised me.
    Good pay and benefits
    Good development opportunities

    Cons

Limited opportunities for advancement as the company is contracting
    A little bureaucratic

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

help people plan their careers better and provide more structure - good seasoned professionals will work there and move on if there is no opportunity, the "lifers" and those with less ambition will stay and that doesn't help a company respond to changing business needs flexibily

    Pros

Amazing People, relaxed work hours, good benefits, good pay and scientifically challenging. Also lots of opportunities to help you develop as a chemist.

    Cons

Company is in bad shape with regards to products, lots of fear about redundancies etc. Too many management initiatives i.e Lean six Sigma imposed on scientists.
