I have been working at AutoNation full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I work as a sales consultant for autonation Nissan. I have to admit , autonation has the most extensive training I have ever seen. They teach you how to make money on car deals, but still make it fair for the customer. It's great for someone that is new to the business . They are also a bit more open about time off than other dealerships(vantuyl, etc)

    Cons

Depending in who is running the store, a lot of times things aren't explained for you. The training is good for the actual sale process, but as far as ins and outs... This are things that need to be learned specific for the dealership. When I started, all the desk managers expected you to know how to do everything. When you didn't, you would get yelled at in front of everyone(including the customer. One time I had a desk manager get up and leave when I was trying to get a price menu because I didn't know the dealer ads on the car. This would have been fine, except another manager said that everything is already loaded in the computer.

    So much inconsistency.
Again this is only specific to my store.

Also autonation only pays 1-5% on the back end. Van Tuyl pays 15%

    Pros

Great pay & benefits. The company really takes care of the employees. Other peers are very friendly. Every Friday they provide breakfast, plus they're always free food somewhere throughout the week.

    Cons

After a month of being in the company... In my department, no review on current projects or previous ones when I jumped on board, I felt a sense of loss. It took a week to get server access. STILL to this day I do not have all the adequate programs installed to my computer for me to work properly, cannot bother the boss too much about it or she'll get upset, senior employee does not like to work, instead throws all work my way while they're in social media. Very disorganized, some people like to take the long way to get things done, instead of working smarter and not harder.

    Pros

I would recommend taking a job at AutoNation. I am amazed at the quality of the team - both coworkers and leadership. I also have the privilege of working on both sides of the corporation - at the store level and corporate level. It is such a pleasure to work with individuals that I continually learn from, and more importantly, look up to. Everyone is more than willing to help each other, step in for one another when needed, and share ideas. The support of the team I am in is beyond more than I have ever seen in a company. My management at AN is supportive, encouraging, and talented beyond words. They take the time to guide, teach, and grow each and every one of their employees. The company does a great job of training and developing. I am blessed and humble to be working for such a GREAT company. One that wants every employee not only to succeed but gives us the tools, knowledge and training to make that happen. I bleed AutoNation!!!
