I worked at AutoNation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They deliver what they promise regarding salaries and benefits

    Cons

There is not a real career advancement policy, the people in management could have a better training regarding dealing with subordinates.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in a better training to your managers and supervisors, leading them to acquire good skills dealing with people

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Training is good, most coworkers have been helpful, in sales, its what you make of it. You definitly have to be a self motivator. Keep your head up, and don't let peoples negetive attitudes affect yours. There is opportunity to make money.

    Cons

There are periods of downtime that tend to get boring. The paychecks won't be consistant.

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have been with AutoNation for more than 10 years and have been given the opportunity and support to grow within the Company. With as many locations as we have, not just in each Market but Nationwide, we have the ability to grow and promote from within. AutoNation has created good processes and hired trainers to teach those processes in each Market. AutoNation offers many benefits to their associates, among them are health insurance, 401k plus match, vehicle purchase program and family/friends referral programs.

    Cons

The managers need to be consistent with what's being trained in the training classes. Employee recognition has decreased over the years. Lack of increases and pay plan changes have caused low employee morale

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to complete employee reviews on a regular basis.

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

AutoNation is very structured so you know exactly what is expected from you. AutoNation provides good benefits to their associates and have a great Management staff. They also provide great Factory and Corporate on-line training.

    Cons

AutoNation needs to be more competitive in their pay and as a normal part of the Automotive Industry, long hours are required which can be difficult on your family.

I worked at AutoNation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good Leadership and Training. A supportive environment to work in. For being new to auto sales, the managers were very supportive and they're shared your excitement when you closed a sale. The managers all had 10+ years in the business. They were knowledgeable and had worked their way up to becoming a manager. Great Experience!

    Cons

Too long from hire date to when benefits start.

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My favorite things is the family atmosphere. Autonation really tries to help you balance work and life. The pay is very competitive. They listen to my suggestions for new equipment, and Autonation is willing to spend money on new technology. The new technology especially in the collision and repair industry really helps us be more efficient and satisfy our customer needs. I am a manager and truly have some great associates that work for me.

    Cons

The long hours sometimes are hard on my family. The waiting period for benefits is kind of long. I hope there will be changes to that as soon as the up coming year. Those are really the only 2 cons of working here. The long hours comes with the industry, and the waiting period I am not sure is industry wide or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lose the long waiting period on Benefits, more variety of uniforms.

Current Employee - Receptionist in Memphis, TN

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Job is receptionist - I love the constantly changing atmosphere, the people, even running reports.

    Cons

Stuck at the desk. Frustrating trying to get the salespeople and managers to understand I need to know their schedules and when they're leaving the lot so I know what to say/do for the customers/callers who are asking for them. I've decided I'll just go bug 'em on a regular basis. Seems to be helping.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please understand that the receptionist is usually the first person a potential customer sees/talks to, and she/he needs to know what's going on, as much as is possible. Even the managers just leave but don't tell me. AHH!!

I have been working at AutoNation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I like the people I work with, I enjoy my job and my customers. AutoNation has the best dealerships in Memphis.

    Cons

Wish there were more uniform choices. I dont mind wearing them, but the selection is so limited. Also, I think we should have the ability to roll over PTO days to the following year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Buy more dealerships in Memphis! Also, for benefits find a perscription plan that does not require mail orders. I wouldnt mind paying a little more if I could just go pick them up when I need them.
