    Pros

Nationwide company that truly goes above and beyond for their customer in service and dependability.

    Cons

A team member who wasn't performing their duties.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that every team member knows exactly how to perform the important services we provide for customers from tests, installations, and even wear inspection for their parts they re having problems with so they can troubleshoot any other factors that might be causing the issues.

Sometimes can get frustrating "meeting numnbers" but thats normal for any job.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your lower level workers, they are the main ones interacting with your money makers (the customers)!

    Pros

Auto Zone try's to alway promote from within when possible. College degree not required. Store manager sets the tone and atmosphere. Most of whom I have worked for make it fun and enjoyable to come to work. Salary store managers and above have good salaries for current market and pay more than any of our competitors even for hourly employees.

    Cons

New part time restrictions due to new insurance regulations make it hard to find and retain quality hires at a partrine level. Part time salary is too low compared to the knowledge we expect from employees and the restrictions of no more than 25 hours a week. Too many sales contests running year round. And too many things to track and offer customers. This process should be stream lined with the customer in mind.

    Advice to Management

Field management sometimes has unrealistic expectations. Too many contests and selling grease packs. If it's so important to the customer to have it, put it in every box and add 1.50 to the price. Problem solved. Check out challenge items get tiring selling fuel injector cleaner month after month.

    Pros

True (relentless) expectation to take care of the customer, whether they are right or wrong...takes the guesswork out of which decision to make. Fantastic ability to grow if you have the skills and desire AND you promote yourself. Huge company but still have control over your Region, District and Store...meaning, you can make a big difference in your customers' day as well as your staffs' life by creating an awesome place to shop and to work. All of the tools and resources are there, you just have to make them work. Example, I am working for the best boss I have ever had. He makes my job worth it. I prefer to be managed by someone that says "this is what I want you to do and this is the consequence if it's not done" rather than "I think"...or "I feel". I could have a totally different outlook if I were working for someone else. It is within his control, and our control to make AutoZone a great place to work and in my opinion, it is great to be an AutoZoner.

    Cons

Reduction of labor hours. But...ALL companies are doing this right now. I was in Bank of America the other day and they are removing the Merchant Teller position due to cutbacks. All of the other Managers in my district are complaining but they fail to realize that labor management is necessary and all it means is that you kick into a higher gear and get your staffs' buy-in so they follow and do the same. Not blame DM's/RM's for decisions out of their control.

    Advice to Management

Less patience with failing Store Managers...keep the good ones and understand the difference between the two. Thank you for my job and making it a great place to work.
