I worked at Autodesk full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

People return to autodesk after leaving for other companies, because it is a wonderful place to work. Respectful, successful, team oriented ad provides good career growth opportunity if you do your job well and have good people skills.

    Cons

It is a strong relationship company - relationships and influence skills are important - and which can lead being political environment sometimes. In my experience, conflict is avoided.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Foster healthy conflict.

I have been working at Autodesk as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    1. good office location. right near the Fairy Building and bay bridge. sea view
    2. nice talk about design.
    3. free food for two days per week.
    4. Nice colleagues.
    5. workload is not heavy.

    Cons

    1. not enough free food
    2. globalization problem. Autodesk has offices around the whole world. So sometimes, the meeting time was really wired because of the time difference. Also, asking colleague in some other continent for help is hard.

I have been working at Autodesk as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I am a summer intern at Autodesk. Interns get all the special treatment. The projects assigned are important and of business value to the company. The intern showcase presentation is a great opportunity to present to the board.
Great chance to explore the city of SF

    Cons

    10 weeks is too short!

I have been working at Autodesk as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The interns are always given high value projects to work on. The management and their fellow team members are extremely helpful and will always guide a confused intern (which I was for the first two weeks). They are also flexible when it comes to hours and working location, and they provide various seminars to help interns network with employees and executives at the company.

    Cons

They could help train the interns a little better before delving right in on the projects.

I worked at Autodesk as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I worked as a software development intern with them for a summer. My internship was the highest paying job I've had to date; granted I am currently a grad student so maybe that's not saying much. While there I was doing more advanced programming than I've ever done before, so that was a good learning experience. In addition, the full time employees around me were always more than willing to help when I needed it. They have great culture of helping each other out and working together.

    Cons

People working on the same development teams are often working at different locations, across the GLOBE. This requires a lot conference call style meetings that can be difficult to schedule due to time zone issues or else long email chains.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't spread the company too thin.

I have been working at Autodesk full-time

    Pros

Great products, loyal customers and a good reputation as an employer. Flexible work environment (both location and hours), good benefits (including ESPP and sabbatical program). Career development opportunities available if you are willing to put in the effort and the hours.

    Cons

Not very agile. Consensus-driven environment creates serious drag on progress. Poor job done by senior management to motivate employee base and create real momentum around business changes. A lack of investment in the back office has resulted in very dated and stretched organization.
