  1. Great company

I have been working at Autodesk full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Driven by a distinct purpose - to make it easier for people to make things! If you are into making things you'll have a blast regardless in which department or your specific job description.

    - motivated and driven teams and management.
    - use of latest technology stack.
    - in San Francisco the office spaces are awesome and very functional and pleasant to work and collaborate.
    - access to the Pier 9 shop and courses.
    - competitive pay and pay structure
    - flexible working time

    Cons

Not much really. A bit complicated cross department functional teams may create confusion in the reporting lines.

    Advice to Management

Keep improving the products and to enable more people to become creators and makers in the ranks of both your customers and employees.

    Pros

I had a very positive experience as an intern here. A lot of great work opportunities and a lot of insight into the vision of Autodesk.

    Cons

Program was very structured, which could turn into a con, but it could also be a pro!

    Advice to Management

Keep it up, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot which is exactly what you desire as a summer intern.

    Pros

really great people and culture, a very welcoming environment
    strong commitment to work/life balance
    good compensation
    beautiful offices

    Cons

challenges of a big company, internal systems are not great
employee ages strongly skew to late 30s - mid-40s, with kids. not necessarily a con but worth noting (and this does have a Pro in the form of work/life balance as shown above)
travel to HQ in San Rafael, again this may not be a con depending on where you're based

Work life balance is great. Managers keep their door open and arrange lots of info sessions to the interns. Lots of smart people around from whom you can learn a lot. Work from home is available and compensation is competitive in the industry.

    Cons

Big company. Could be some miscommunication between the management team. Not so many opportunity to get promote.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Autodesk promotes a great culture of teamwork and collaboration to achieve success. Autodesk is also a cool company in that it's software products are used by our customers to imagine, design and build a better world.

    Cons

Due to the efforts of consensus building, it take time to come to decisions. The are at times handwringing and posturing where decisions involve certain business risks resulting in unnecessary upward delegation of decision making. This is mainly observed at the lower and mid level management positions. Nevertheless, the deliberative process works well to obtain buy in from all stake holders.

    Pros

If you work for Autodesk, you will be well taken care of. The pay is good, the people you work with are fascinating, and the perks are many. Work/life balance depends on your manager, but overall, there seems to be an effort to help people balance their work for their own situation. Every four years, you are eligible for a six-week sabbatical. Besides that, you get Christmas Eve through New Years Day off so you can focus on spending times with your loved ones. Working during vacations, sabbaticals, and the week of rest is generally frowned upon. Work from home is allowed.

One of the coolest things about working with Autodesk is that you are empowering the people who will change the world. That's really cool when you think about it.

    Cons

Autodesk is huge, so it may take some time to find the information (or person) you are looking for. If you are self-motivated, you'll find what you are looking for. There are politics, sure, but if you have more than two people, you'll have politics.

Some people check out once they walk in the office, which can be disheartening to see. This has a lot to do with their managers, and again, is part of human nature. That doesn't have to be your story.

    Advice to Management

Celebrate employee successes and be their biggest advocate. Stay transparent with successes and failures.

    Pros

Highly successful, solid company, over 30 years in business. Salaries, bonuses and vacation time are fair and at market levels. 6 week paid sabbatical every 4 years is a great benefit and motivation to stay on long-term. Internal opportunities for career growth are good also. There is a solid development and IT infrastructure and a well disciplined development process in place. You will be working alongside talented and dedicated coworkers in a vibrant working environment. Autodesk products are world class and widely adopted worldwide. The location at One Market is great and if you live in Marin County there are offices there as well.

    Cons

Periodic layoffs over the years were unnerving and adversely impacted morale. Release schedules can be stressful, but that comes with the territory, for the most part.
