    Pros

Autodesk has amazing products! Software that let's designers, architects, engineers, etc. do awesome things. Many people have never heard of the company but know their products like AutoCAD. The culture of the company is one that values their employees. They do barbecues at some of their offices. People can take their dogs to work. They are big on employee development and give lots of opportunity for personal and professional growth. They encourage community involvement! The pay and benefits were great!

    Cons

They grew very quickly while I was there and hired lots of people in my division. When the recession hit, they needed to quickly cut back on employees and laid off 750 in the first round of layoffs and about 400 more a few months later.

    Cons

I have nothing negative about this company.

    Pros

Great benefits, great people/managers and good work/life balance. Good possibilities to move around the company for those that want, and a company that invests in sustainability and walks the talk.

    Cons

None that I can see at this time.

  5. Great Place to Intern

I have been working at Autodesk as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great community at Autodesk - it feels like a family and I'm constantly meeting new people. The intern group I was part of also meshed really well. We were remote for the majority of our time with Autodesk but when we came together we all got along great, which goes to show how much care the hiring managers put into when picking good candidates for their company!

    Cons

Honestly, none in my opinion, but probably just because I am an intern. The only con I can think of is that there are 3 towers in their SF building and it gets a little confusing, but that goes away with time.

    Pros

The culture is so enjoyable... the people truly like and respect each other and enjoy what they are doing.

    Cons

It's a large company, so at times one can feel lost or invisible unless you make an effort to connect....

    Pros

Innovative company focused on building a better world. People are treated with respect and rewarded for performance.

    Cons

The transition from a desktop software company to a service based company is going to be difficult. What built Autodesk of the past is not the solution for the future.

    Advice to Management

Get some new blood in Senior management.

    Pros

There are many. Autodesk has wonderful people and is working hard to keep a kind, balanced, open, and interesting environment. The offices are beautiful, the attitudes towards work / life and humane, the pay is good, and the products / customers do really amazing things. As a tech company, we're not slinging "ad words" or some next flash in the pan photo sharing app -- Autodesk technology really impacts the world around you and that's inspiring.

    Cons

There are few. Like any big company, sometimes projects or ideas can get caught up in tape, bureaucracy. Certain areas are hotter than others and move faster. That said, if you build good relationships and are influential it's not hard to get stuff done. This is a minor "con" for me -- I've worked at a handful of medium to very big companies and have driven more ideas and projects to fruition here than anywhere else.

    Advice to Management

Keep on keeping on, continue to expand the youth focused benefits to compete with the other tech giants for talent. Convert more contractors -- we want people to stay! Continue to expand marketing of the complete Autodesk story. Not enough people really know who we are and all the cool stuff we do.

Autodesk is without a doubt one of the best companies I have worked for. You work hard, are surrounded with smart and bright individuals, and have a great work environment.

    Cons

Worldwide company so you have to be flexible with work hours.

    Pros

I never expected to be a veteran of Autodesk or any company for that matter. I like change. I like big ideas. I like to make big ideas happen. In my 10+ years at Autodesk, I've had many different opportunities to work on big idea initiatives and drive positive change in the company, and this is the main thing that has kept me here. If I were to find an opportunity to make a bigger impact somewhere else, I would probably take it. I've considered a few opportunities at other companies over the years, but none has been as compelling as what I've been able to do at Autodesk.

    Cons

Since Autodesk is a company that embraces change, those who are uncomfortable with change are typically uncomfortable working here. While this isn't a con per se, it's something that people who are considering working for Autodesk should understand.
