Overall a great company to work for that has a passion for occupant safety

Senior Project Engineer (Current Employee)
Auburn Hills, MI

I have been working at Autoliv full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe work has a purpose which is to save lives through automotive occupant safety
The atmosphere is one of teamwork without too much of the politics that can occur in a large corporation
Good opportunity through advancement if the hard work is put in
Goal oriented company which has helped to cement it's future as the best in the business

ConsSometimes there are too many meetings that don't necessarily get the job done

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great technology, great prospects for future business.

Hardware Engineer (Former Employee)
Lowell, MA

I worked at Autoliv full-time for more than a year

ProsI was able to get involved in numerous projects, gaining both hands-on and interpersonal experience. Good opportunities to work with smart engineers.

ConsManagement was a bit unorganized. Quite a bit of overlap across project responsibilities. International offices also require late meeting hours.

Rewarding and challenging work in automotive safety and meeting the demands of an increasingly global corporate culture.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Autoliv full-time

ProsDepth of technical knowledge and experience of retained employees, still better-than-average corporate culture sincerely emphasizing continuous improvement and ethical behavior, new initiatives to maintain quality and technical edge, management priorities are conservative yet growth-oriented, opportunities for global assignments

ConsCheck-in-the-box mentality has been an unpleasant side effect of global standardization, no formal mentorship program or recognition of the benefits of one, somewhat alarming recent increase in turnover mostly among promising younger and mid-career employees, relatively flat structure can make lateral moves enticing, but limit opportunities for upward movement, quest to become a "global company" is straining the culture that once made the company great

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue pushing conservative fiscal management along with policies to encourage technological innovation and quality improvements. Do not sacrifice the culture that has been nurtured over decades for quick growth opportunities in developing markets, or risk even larger scale quality and ethics problems than seen recently. Develop and retain young talent with a strong mentorship program and rotational opportunities outside those provided to co-ops.

Great Company

Engineer (Current Employee)
Ogden, UT

I have been working at Autoliv full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI have a great manager and the pay is pretty good. The hours are very stable, and there is always a problem to solve and work to be done, which makes things interesting.

ConsUpper management doesn't provide a clear direction for the company. The corporate initiatives often seem like a wasted effort, without very practical or clear objectives.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would be clearer to all employees the direction the ship is headed instead of the corporate non-sense talk.

Good and stable. But not much to move forward.

Engineering Intern (Mechanical) (Former Employee)

I worked at Autoliv

ProsAtmosphere is absolutely great
People really nice - much like a family
Good opportunity to interface with customers and suppliers of Autoliv like GM, VW and Avery Dennison

ConsA little boring occassionally; not dynamic enough sometimes
General atmosphere is also a little gloomy on some days
Less chance of moving higher up quickly

Nice think about nothing Job:)

Production Associate (Former Employee)
Brigham City, UT

I worked at Autoliv

ProsWhen you have no where else to work and are ineed of cash flow, they will give you cash flow if you are willing to put in the hours.

ConsMost of the work at Autoliv was shift work, and repetive manual labor, you have to go to your nothing zone in your brain to survive.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust because times are tuff, letting people go should not be the solution, don't hire them if you are going to let them go, hire them as temp workers.
