Current Employee – been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Supportive, facilitating managment helps you perform at a high level. Combination of production and development work keeps life interesing. Professional, respectful work environment.
Cons – Older systems means you have to interface with several tools to get information rather than a more integrated approach. Lots of customized, in-house management and engineering programs.

Current Employee – been working at Avago Technologies
Pros – The company structure, from what I know of my division, seems great, especially compared to the last division I worked in at another company in the same business. Resources seem to be focused on the right projects, which means your work is not wasted on projects that don't go to market. There are not a lot of bureaucratic roadblocks to getting what you need and what you need done to do your job. The technology in my division really provides a competitive advantage in cost to performance ratio and being on the leading edge of the industry is quite rewarding. I have also found that there is great support from management and other employees in getting what you need and what you need to know. The group events and potlucks every once in a while are good for morale, and also ... there are barely any meetings!
Cons – As an individual contributor, I don't get much information about what is going on with the business and customers in general. It allows me to be focused, but doesn't allow me to see the big picture. Even with the recent layoffs there wasn't any "waterfalled" information down to my level on if my group would be affected or not. Had to search out information through the rumor mill to get any word that we weren't affected. Also, there seem to be hangers-on from the HP/Agilent days that may lack the motivation to contribute at the same level as more recent employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the company lean and mean. Make sure we stay flexible and have the ability to move as the markets demand in order to stay competitive. Use the management chain to more effectively communicate company strategy and directives down to individual contributors. People will do their jobs better if they know why they are doing what they are doing.
