Has some great potential and solutions...but they're not sure what to do at times

    Group Manager (Current Employee)

ProsAvanade has some cool solutions built upon Microsoft's platform. The pay is good based on the level. Some smart people that direct delivery and sales.

ConsWhipping boys to Accenture. Don't show that much respect to the Microsoft partnership. Big egos are bruised easily, and a lot of back-stabbing (make yourself look good by making others look bad). The work/life balance is not balanced - the time commitment expectations are unreal.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat technologists don't make great managers - there is some serious lack of people skills at the management levels.

    Opportunity

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsAble to gain a lot of job experience. Immense training resources provided. Benefits are top notch. Learn how to manage your own career in ways other jobs don't require which is partly positive. Overall a great culture, friendly co-workers, and a commitment to implement improvements not just for clients but employees.

ConsConsulting in general is tough with travel. The demand to manage your own career, even with help, as well as meet company and client expectations is a lot.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to identify, create, and implement improvements for employee's

Great people with good employee benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsThe company highly promotes various kinds of training for employees;
The people Avanade hires are the friendliest people

ConsYou often have to work closely with Accenture who shares very different values. at times this becomes an issue when managing expectations

Great company for college grads, developing skills with the Microsoft stack

    Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsExcellent to start off with out of college. If you want to learn the Microsoft stack, there is no better place to learn it. They invest 80 hours a year in training and pay for your MS certifications, which is way more than you get elsewhere. Also, everyone from top to bottom seems like they care which is much different than the bigger companies. It seems like you have some level of control in your career which you won't get at other big companies either. Good benefits.

ConsThey don't carry enough weight. The main issue is that they have problems closing deals. I have been assigned to multiple projects that we were supposed to sign that just fell through to another company. They only provide a couple weeks of vacation which is pretty low. They have annual sick leave, but you never really get the opportunity to use it because you can always work from home unless you are seriously ill. Also, the teams are usually very small. That could be a good thing, but for me it just felt isolated. Otherwise, same issues as consulting in general: work life balance, limited role selection, etc.

Great place, if you don't mind the travel

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe people here are for the most part incredible. They are very smart, well rounded & very approachable. I've met so many great individuals here, and have made more than a few friends. Lots of emphasis is placed on training, with good (not always great) resources at your disposal. There's no question in my mind that if you jump in with both feet, you will get great experience here. You will be challenged to excel towards excellence, and be given the guidance/feedback to grow.

ConsSome people love regular traveling, though I view it as a negative. I do enjoy occasional traveling, but not fond of the long-term traveling engagements. Also, the career management here, while it has many strengths in terms of the people involved, I believe suffers from an overall process viewpoint (mainly the system used to track project feedback and growth).

A good company to chart a long term career with

    Solutions Architect (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsThere are good career advancement opportunities and it is clear when you need to do for advancement. Good variety in job types and flexibility in where and when you work.

ConsAccenture owns Avanade and pushed processes that are designed for the worlds largest companies down, which creates too much process at the 1,000 to 5,000 seat clients, of which we have many.

Advice to Senior ManagementRight size the process. Smaller accounts should have less process than larger.

ConsNone, really; most consultants travel extensively.
