    Pros

Work life balance is good most of the time. People are friendly.

    Cons

Going through growing pains right now and senior leadership is struggling to align, which is making it difficult on the middle managers and rank and file to get work done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time working together on the vision for the company and the organizational structure, especially between business and technology groups.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Family oriented company. Big on people and community

    Cons

Going through a bit of identity crisis right now. Want to be a big bank but play by small bank rules...it doesn't work which clients recognize and it's stressful to employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on retaining good employees because a lot are leaving. If you're going to play with the big banking boys we need a new set of rules

    Pros

Very fast paced meaning time goes by very fast. Very good experience with customer service.

    Cons

They classroom train you for a week to learn basics. Nothing you learn in this week will be relevant to your job. Then you hit the floor and expected to know what you are doing. Also, department policy states you must stay in the department for 18 months before you can take another job within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop classroom training

    Pros

The benefits are pretty good! There even better if you are signed up for the Peak Health program. The vacation package would be better if you could buy days again.

    Cons

Management is non existent! People (employees) walk all over you. There is no room for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get managers with a backbone and a fair head on their shoulders. .

I have been working at BB&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great company culture. Mission is very strong, a lot of teamwork, and exceptional ethics. They strive to be the best for their clients, and have a great heritage and reputation. I'm in one if the newer markets and there is a lot of excitement for the upcoming opportunities to build profit and market share.

    Cons

Being an exempt employee, the pay structure can be challenging. It's hard to make it on the lowest pay grid for incentive, also a lot is taken out from the paycheck for taxes and medical. The communication between opportunities for advancement and employees needs to be communicated better. Feels limited mobility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved with your team, be a mentor and help them succeed by promotion as well as provide guidance to achieve the higher payouts.

I have been working at BB&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Compensation is very generous when considering salary bonus plus stock bonus (requires 4 years vesting). Politics aren't very cut-throat, meaning that I haven't seen people being scapegoated or targeted. Pockets of vdry strong employees.

    Cons

Slow to change. Still stuck in the "well we just do it this way" mentality, rather than embracing efficiencies. Too much hierarchy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can drive positive change while supporting work/life balance and while suporting your own aspirations. Be honest when setting delivery expectations and effort expectations. And don't be a fraid to escalate/report when estimates have changed.
