    Terrible

    Relationship Banker (Current Employee)

ProsOnly pros are the base salary and branch hours

    Cons-Micro Managers
    -Sale pushers
-Worse customer service I have ever seen
-Managers don't care about you doing servicing all they care about is your numbers at the end of day
-Clients are just numbers to them
    -Not enough staffing
    -No lunches at times
-No sense of urgency takes forever to get any answers from a manager
-You WILL be the managers assistant because they DO NOT feel like doing anything themselves other then going on "business calls"
-Want you to speak with 10 people per day doesn't matter if you called 40 people that day.4-
-Managers don't know how to do anything or manage their branches
-Don't care about customer complaints at all

I can go on and on

Advice to Senior ManagementGet managers that know what they are doing.

Management Style is soooo 30-Years Ago - Really Bad for the 21st Century

Project Manager (Former Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsI honestly cannot provide any Pros for working at BB&T. (and, I am not a disgruntled former employee)

ConsHere is how I would categorize my experience: Management has no regard nor do they demonstrate or live the Corporate Values. I found Management to be insecure, asinine, and consistently disjointed. I found Bully-Style Management to be the norm. My review sessions felt more like Interrogation sessions. The BB&T Culture works for persons who have not developed nor embraced a broader world-view and experiences. The culture works for a narrow set of people. No career path, either. This was by far my worst experience in a corporation.

Advice to Senior ManagementI have no advice for Management at BB&T, just a few things that I observed: Management is tone deaf which makes the organization unwilling to (very well can't) change. I only know that what I experienced at BB&T is a reflection of the overall leadership - (from Kelly King on down) - they don't know what they don't know.

    Terrible experience

    Analyst (Current Employee) Raleigh, NC

ProsI am still trying to find,,,,finding.............did not find anything.. ............!
Quit trying to find a pro !!

    ConsMental stress
    Incompetent management & leadership
To get things done you are at the mercy of everyone.
    Impolite attitude
    Give up nights and weekends
Practically it is not possible to do work even if you try to !
Will be promoted if you are ready to wipe $$$ !
Don't expect a pay hike for years
    Bonus is a joke
High attrition -----TRUST ME THIS IS IN EVERY DEPT

endless...you will find one which I haven't for sure

Advice to Senior ManagementNone. Better sell this to better bank

Says that they value work/ family balance, however all is not as it seems. Management will misrepresent job demands.

    Commercial Appraiser (Current Employee)

Pros4 days per year vacation. You get all the post it notepads that you want. They even give you a computer and a stapler.

ConsHiring manager says that they value work/ family life balance, and that this is a 40 hour per week job. After hire, it was demanded that I work 70 hours per week if I value my job. I am a professional in my field with over 20 yrs experience at other banks, so I am familiar with job demands at competing institutions.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you really value work/ family balance, then live by those values. If you dont value work/ family balance, dont say that you do during hiring interviews. Maybe be up front and say that your really dont care and if you want to work for BB&T, be prepared to work 80 hours per week, including weekends.

    Mortgage Loan Processor III

Mortgage Loan Processor III (Current Employee) Richmond, VA

ProsThe only plus is the 80 hours of sick leave you get a year. This can be used for your children, spouse, or yourself.

ConsBenefits are not good. Healthcare for a family of 5, I pay $495.00 per paycheck. Copays are $35.00, I am not sure why there are so many reviews saying the benefits are great. I left Bank of America to come here and my benefits were much better. I had 4 weeks vacation. Here I got 2 weeks. Healthcare was $305.00 per paycheck. Technology is outdated and management does not provide training and is not evolved at all. Good ole boys network. Branches might be different but corporate BB&T is AWFUL.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more training and leadership. Don't treat satellite offices like step children. If you are not in Wilson or TX then you don't exist.

    Financial Center Leader

Financial Center Leader II (Former Employee)

ProsNo pros that I can recall.

    Cons1. 50-60 hour work weeks.
    2. Pay is pathetic compared to the competition.
    3. Very political organization and hard to move up within the ranks if your not smoozing with senior management.
    4. Call nights several times a month (which do not guarantee any further sales results).
    5. Sales, Sales, Sales, Sales driven - Senior Management is highly driven by your production figures.
    6. Monthly sales meetings are the same bunch of bogus every month (area managers talk down to us like we're elementary children ..."remember to always open a checking account, blah blah blah).
    7. Never had an opportunity to recruit and select my own staff from interviewing.
    8. Constant shortage of staff within branch - yet goals are still held to par (in 2012 I averaged 1 teller).
    9. Inconsistent underwriting among managers.
    10. Vacation times only permitted if appropriate coverage within branch.

    ....the list goes on...

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to spend more time within the branches leading rather than preaching what actions to follow. Promote people equally based on production success rather than political status quo within company.
