    Pros

Good Benefits and the location was good. The salary was marginal but within the lower median. Interaction between departments was pretty good.

    Cons

Prejudice and bigotry still exist within the ranks. Be careful if you’re a female in engineering, especially if you’re of color. Your forced rating marks will be low. The engineering department can't deliver anything on time or working well. Replace management and you'll stop loosing customers like Quest. i.e. Quest removed BD all together. That should say something too..

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the "Old Boy' network within engineering senior management at the Sparks facility.

    Pros

    big compny I guess so.

    Cons

No room to advance. If your a favorite you can move up, with no problem. If your not than you will be stuck in a hole. HR isnt consistant at all.

    Advice to Management

I read another guy's review from franklin lakes. Clean house. The culture and values would be good if they were inforced.

I worked at BD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits with nice 401K saving plan

    Cons

BD medical has very good codes and conducts and core values BAZINGA!!! Big company like BD Medical deficient in their codes, conduct and core values. There is no such thing like retaliation is prohibited if anyone speak up the truth about another associates or managers unusual observations or attitude or hostile act or anything questionable. Supervisor or Managers retaliated against employees whoever stood up for the right. If any associates diaagreed with their Managers (end of the year evaluation rating), double standard, unfair treatment, or if the boss belittle or yelled in front of their peers, or politics talks, an associates tried to raised their voice, guess what happen? Within a month out of retaliation, first that associate was given Performance Improvement followed by hostile environment, Manipulation and tortured to the point that either associate quit or terminated in front of Sandy Police like that associate did the biggest crime of the world. In other big companies there have reformatted and revised codes and conduct policy with the statement "retaliation is prohibited in any case"

    Advice to Management

BD codes and conducts core values need to be reformatted and updated with addition of statement "Retaliation is prohibited in any case". HR should be rotated and need more training to be more like true human resources. Ethic online report should be kept anonymous and final report need to be given to the BD corporate in Franklin Lakes, in this way no conflict of interest and neutral HR handle the situation quietly. Every employee no matter what level they are or what race or religion they have, All should be treated kindly and fairly without any retaliation.

Close to restaurants and stores.. free coffee clean restrooms. Fellow employees very nice but scared of being fired too much micro management.

    Cons

No credit for coming in early and giving them 110 percent for the little pay. . Got the flu was absent 1 day and was reprimanded for being ill..really?

    Advice to Management

Respect each person give them credit..I was a BD employee and worked in purchasing..the managers look through you not personal at all. And the contractors you could be there one day and gone the next and these were past government employees. Their saying is "Helping people live better lives.. "

    Pros

    Decent pay and benefits ok

    Cons

This company has no continuity or consistency when it comes to the customer. Customers never know if someone new is going to walk through their doors. Territories are always changing. Company does not listen or ask as to whats working or not working in the field. I don't know many happy folks here, and several have little or no job satisfaction. Several ready to jump ship. Unattainable expectations for those in the field. Management never wants to assume any accountability or responsibility, always pointing the finger on someone else..

    Advice to Management

Listen to the folks on the front line who know whats working and not working, and make change accordingly..

    I worked at BD full-time

    Pros

Benefits are okay. San Antonio office is located around good places to eat for lunch.

    Cons

Very unprofessional environment. Company does not practice what it preaches...doesn't follow core values. In fact does not have values. There is no teamwork only dog eat dog mentality. Employees at San Antonio office are so unprofessional with their office drama. Company treats contractors with little respect. There is a great deal of politics involved and to succeed in this company you need to brown nose the managers. It's a high school environment in an office setting. There is no work-life balance and managers do not care.

    Advice to Management

Need to stop the cronyism and reinvent yourself to be better leaders by having leadership seminars for your managers. Also, there needs to be some accountability of the managers instead of blaming their subordinates. Teams are as good as their weakest link and it is the job of managers to strengthen that weakest link.
