I worked at BD as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The attorney's I worked for were professional and fair. They gave me the opportunity to learn procedures that I did not know. They were like managers of yore, they didn't mind teaching me.

    Cons

The permanent employee returned . Also, our of 3,000 employees in the San Jose office there were less than five African Americans

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that diversity includes people of color not just Filipinos and Mexicans.

I have been working at BD full-time

    Pros

Group is filled with good people who help eachother. Boss gives me exactly what I need to be productive and effective. Benefits are pretty good. The work is interesting and challenging.

    Cons

The IT procedures are really a pain. It makes it difficult to get anything done. The IT personnel are great, but they're hamstrung by policy making it hard to solve problems.

I have been working at BD full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Purpose driven company with strong values. Company has become much more innovative and comfortable with risk last few years. It is making major investments in new markets and technologies. Global growth presents good opportunities for people who work there and like the rapid pace environment.

    Cons

Sometimes it feels like there is to much to do for the resources we have. The good news is that we really like what we do but we can feel stretched.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the investments. Keep focus on performance and moving out people who are parked in their jobs for long time.

I worked at BD as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful Campus - great cafeteria, great gym, dry cleaning on premise
    Friendly people
Summer Hours - leave early Friday or come in late Monday
ITLP program (Information Technology Leadership Program) is extremely well organized

    Cons

Outdated project approval process - being updated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue offering opportunities for ITLPs to travel to other locations. It is a big 'plus' for the program.

I worked at BD as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked there as a temporary employee, but the people I worked with were awesome. They took me to lunch multiple times. It's really a friendly and welcoming environment. There are a lot of opportunities for growth within the company.

    Cons

I wasn't there long enough to have any problems with the company.

I have been working at BD full-time

    Pros

Many good opportunities for growth within the company. Big and necessary changes made in the past 3-5 years that allow the company to remain highly-competitive in the market and to potential recruits.

    Cons

Still many people who believe the company owes them something because they have not worked in other industries or for other companies and seen how businesses have been forced to adapt in the last decade. If a company isn't evolving, they are falling behind.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at BD

    Pros

Good hours, appropriate level of personal responsibility, interesting projects. Friendly work environment. The cafeteria is quite nice, and the building is well located.

    Cons

Recent restructuring led to some initial confusion. The intern program is growing, so these problems are probably temporary. Meeting more of the other interns/group training would have been niec
