Pros – A great firm to work for if you want broad exposure to mid market companies.

Cons – After the restructuring in 2009, teams tended to be under pressure to complete work within very tight time-frames.

Advice to Senior Management – BDO used to have a great proposition up to 2009: more experienced staff than the big four, low staff turnover rates, continuity of staff on client projects, and a focus on delivering high quality work. In my view this was a winning proposition and in the long term pays off better than simply trying to maximise profits in the short term.

Cons – Managers too focused on sorting themselves out
No support post accountancy qualification or clear structure to help with next steps

Advice to Senior Management – Bite the bullet and spend some sinus money on advertising the brand globally- dropping the local names is a good first step, but it's still the worst of both worlds...
