Financially one of the best restaurants to work at in Central Ohio. Very easy sidework

    Cons

Favortism, working your way up through lunch shifts. Food running shifts. Can be intimidating

    Pros

If you prove you're a hard worker then you can oftentimes get a good schedule. The amount of money you make is up to you. Several different managers so it gives you more opportunity to have one you get along with well. There was also room for upward movement. If you worked there for about a year and REALLY liked you, they'd move you to bar tending (A LOT more money), then supervising, then management.

    Cons

Very restaurant politic-y. Some of the managers only paid attention to the girl servers who flirted with them, and if you didn't follow suit your schedule could suffer greatly.

    Advice to Management

Don't let higher management who got in trouble for sexual harassment with an underage hostess come back and work at middle management when they have constant contact with even more girls.

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to move around the country. Pays good. Good benefits. Free meals at restaurants.

    Cons

Company is expanding and going through changes, which is making it into a company that doesn't care about their employees.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should know how to manage others in their department. Openings in other departments are given to people with connections to the head of that department, instead of putting the word out about the open position.

    Pros

Cool environment, nice employees, great tips, and room for advancement. The food is great and I would usually make great tips. All of the employees and managers were nice, and one can go from busser, to server in a fairly short amount of time.

    Cons

Late nights, Unpredictable schedule. Closing, I would usually stay there until 2Am at the earliest, sometimes I would have work at 8 the next morning. The managers try to avoid this, but sometimes it happens. The schedule is also unpredictable, if your friends work there, it is nearly impossible to get the same night off.

    Advice to Management

Improve shift schedules to be more consistent. Sometimes there is not a lot of room, but staying consistent week-to-week would avoid conflicts in employees schedules.

  7. Good money, stressful work environment

    Pros

The money. I have only worked at one previous restaurant before working at BJs, but, at least in my town, the financial benefits are extremely beneficial and helped me immensely during college.

    Cons

Very stressful work environment. Employees can work there for 3+ years and still get treated poorly in regards to scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Don't focus so much on quantity, but focus more on quality. If you send out 100 plates of food that are just okay, as opposed to 60 amazing meals, are you really gaining much more in return guests?

    Pros

    Decent salary.
Flexible hours, easy to trade hours with colleages.
Enjoyable place to work, good fun with other staff and managers.

    Cons

Tips are few and far between, but that's expected from a host.
Didn't get a lot of hours, maybe 25 a week during summer.
Job was not challenging most of the time, mainly during the week.

    Advice to Management

Had trouble getting authorised because of my situation as temporary visa holder, but some restaurants need summer staff. Don't make it difficult! My manager hated it!

    Pros

    Quality systems. They compensate well.

    Cons

Senior leadership is more interested in share holders. Cutting costs. Food quality going down some.
